Community Feedback on The Exchange?

Now that we’ve finally made it through all of the new skins / poses rotated through the exchange (ignore that one back piece that was never released for Halo 3; its still MIA) I’m curious how the community feels about the implementation of The Exchange.

Does this rotation of items keep you coming back?
Should the exchange be gutted / replaced?

Thanks!

I find it manipulative. They keep cycling all this content intending to retain players and its suddenly a huge pain in the -Yoink!- for new players jumping in. Case in point all of the H2A content is locked behind the exchange which makes any would be fans slightly turned off to playing it (among other things).

The exchange either needs to be significantly expanded to offer a larger selection of items weekly (thinking 30 items at minimum) or a whole new season in the catalog should be added.

All the content is already stuff I had since they released. Never any new content in there, throw in the old weapon challenges. They already put Hazard Mongoose and Bug Splattered Buck in the exchange. I grinded those legit but they get put in the exchange but not Blast Halo 4 Skin or Avalanche Halo 3 Skin?

Are the H3 Avalanche Sniper, H4 Blood DMR, and H4 Blast BR ever coming? The H3 Avalanche Sniper now says obtained in The Exchange under the customization menu. With the H4 Competitive playlist dead since Infinite’s Campaign launch, I would even mind paying 343 points for each just to not have so many useless leftover points (would also be a symbolic recognition to those who actually grinded out Competitive in S3/S4 for each respective skin).

As someone with over 800 useless leftover points, I agree.

It’s a mess. I was hoping now that the new Halo 2A armours were finished, the pieces that have rarely appeared would rotate back round, instead we’re getting injured Romeo for the 5th time and the golden BR for the 7th time. It’s like nobody keeps track of what’s been regularly in and what hasn’t.

There are some items that have only ever been in once like some of the 20th anniversary shoulder/back accessories, the Bioroid armour that was changed mid week which a lot of people missed and then on course items like the Halo 3 avalanche sniper that has never been in due to a minority of people upset that it was going into the exchange.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they just cycle through the series 6 exchange items again for the next 8+ weeks

The exchange in its current form is not good.

It takes way too long to unlock anything and is still missing a ton of promised content for Halo 3 and Reach unrelated to the promised seasonal rewards.

They could alleviate the grind by putting specific items directly related to one another in bundles and cycling those under a separate list to make it easier to collect everything quicker, but the risk runs in the bundles being overpriced.

The purpose of what it was initially intended for with bringing old seasonal items back I think would have worked if they actually stuck to it’s initial purpose and weighted the items more evenly to rotate in. For previous seasonal items we only seem to get repeats of the rhine skins (which weren’t even seasonal items to begin with), ODST characters, and the gold CE skins. We’ve periodically gotten a few different items like the mister chief helmet and the the green H3 battle rifle, but basically nothing else.

The moment they started adding non seasonal items into the exchange is where the exchange in it’s current form doesn’t work. On top of the seasonal items that haven’t rotated in, we now have to wait for new content to be drip fed to us even more. A perfect example of this is the last drop of items for H2A, we just reached the point that we now have access to all that content (assuming you’ve been popping on every week) and that dropped in August, that’s 4 months ago. Now starting next week we’re back to rhine skins and ODST characters, like seriously?

My thought on a change that 343 could make if they absolutely must have a form of rotation in the exchange:

Make all the items that aren’t seasonal items available at all times in the exchange for players to buy whenever they want, and then make the previous seasonal challenge items the things that rotate in and out each week, but change the weighting so we actually get more items a bit more consistently instead of the big three that I mentioned above.

I personally think items once rotated in should just stay period, or at the very least for a month so there isn’t nearly as much of FOMO revolving around the exchange.

343 has done a great job with this game but the exchange is seriously the one thing that I absolutely despise in this game and it seriously needs to be overhauled.

343 is the one in control and I’m tired of making excuses for them. They’ve created this system, they are able to control it at will.

I’d love thing sto be rotated back through for anyone who missed previously

I 100% agree. It’s mind blowing how many simple changes they just refuse to do regardless of player feedback.

What they should do is make everything available in the exchange so players can buy the items they want when they want instead of being drip fed content that literally has no monetary value.

stop the exchange, make it all in a permanent list

Completely forgot Laws End H3 Back accessory, when?. Also I guess the Quick Draw Mister Chief nameplate, which was only available from a Season 5? seasonal challenge.

Curious of there are any more things beside the above, H3 avalanche sniper, H4 Blood DMR, H4 Blast BR, and previous event/20th anniversary nameplates that have only been available once through a challenge, and never returned since.

The also removed the halo 3 oni warthog skin for some reason

It’s supposed to mimic the success of Fortnite’s item shop.

The only problem is Fortnite’s item shop has consistent variety to the point that you don’t care what shows up in it. What’s more, Fortnite doesn’t let you know what’s being gatekept from you outside of the item shop. So you don’t think about what you’re missing out on as much. Even after whole seasons pass. You eventually forget about it.

The MCC fails on both of these fronts. Lots of locked boxes.

Not saying I want Halo to become Fortnite. Just saying the devs are trying to have their cake and eat it too with an already multi billion dollar franchise that doesn’t need to mimic Fortnite.

Halo used to lead the industry. I want to get back to being a leader, not blindly copying trends in the market.

I was HEATED when I saw that happen dude! I wanted that skin  :triumph:

It was probably buggy or something and that’s why it got cut. Only reason I could think of for them to remove such a cold skin lol.

The exchange does rotate at the end of it’s cycle - so it’s a long time waiting if you missed something in the earlier weeks of the exchange if it’s halfway through.

Of course, they might have items not showing up that were once there as well, unsure about those. I’ve followed the exchange every week and it’s now cycled through at least twice.

Indeed. I think I’m up to date on Weeklies, but I missed two pose bundles immediately before the update where I got retrospective spartan points
