Community Cartographers And The Future

BTB has finally arrived and we can now play on the forge maps designed specifically for them!
However there has been a large amount of backlash on the matter.
From everything I have been hearing by random match made players, they are not pleased.
As a dedicated member of the forging community, I have heard many more-well-known names talk about the maps in a negative way.

343 has done something amazing by bringing in community members to create maps for the community. However, It is mine, as well as many others opinion, that they brought in (mostly) the wrong group of people. Most of these cartographers had no business or experience crafting BTB maps, or even competitive maps in general.
People like Warholic and Psychoduck have a solid reputation in the community, but War’s map didn’t even get released. Nokyard had never forged competitive maps before, and strangely enough ended up making the best map of them all. The Fated Fire’s map (Longbow reimagined) has too many flaws to describe. The most reminiscent thing about it to Longbow is that there’s snow on the ground. Ducain is essentially a race gametype guy, and not into competitive.

  • Deadlock - 9/10 - Healong - 7.5/10 - Basin - 7/10 - Recurve - 4.5/10
So how did this group of people get selected? They are all community cartographers.
I think we need to have a roster change in the cartographers. There are many old forgers left over from previous titles, who have not been active for a few years.
There are members who are undeserving of their spots. How do we select new members? A contest.
Once forge releases for H5 we will start to see who creates the better content, but for right now I feel as though the cartographers should wipe and start fresh. No need to grandfather people in to the next title, and have them be viewed as “The best forgers in the community” when they clearly are not.

We decide by adding the community sharing feature from halo 3 (anyone remember the thing that let us actually see the most liked and viewed maps, clips, and screenshots?).

Bam. I would love to see anyone argue against this point.
