Community Carnage: Bungie VS Waypoint rematch

For those keeping track, bungie.net and Waypoint have faced off once before. On this occasion Waypoint’s members were edged out in a tight series of games fought in distant battlefields on giant hula hoops. On the 20th of November, Waypoint will regain the honor lost for the destruction of one of the Sacred Rings.

Prepare for battle as we celebrate 10 years of Halo on the fields of nostalgia. If you are interested in taking part read the information below!

Please note that this thread is for signing up to play for Waypoint. The Bungie.net sign up thread is available here.

Game Information
This Sunday (20th November)
3PM PDT
CEA map pack required

Setup

  • Each community gets together 16 players and a healthy batch of reserves.
  • This allows for two simultaneous 8v8 games.
  • If it ends as a tie (Waypoint win one group, Bungie another) the teams that won their group will play a tiebreaker game.

REGISTRATION - read this bit carefully

> In order to be selected to play you MUST send a friend request to the gamertag Carnage event AND post your gamertag in this thread.

Failure to do one without the other will result in your request being ignored. Once you have been chosen your name will be edited into the original post. Come the day of the event, the friend request will be accepted, and you will be invited to the game by one of the hosts.

Important Note
Please take careful consideration of the time and date. Please do NOT sign up until you are completely sure that you are able to make it to the Carnage. If you are having trouble locking down the local time, use a time zone converter. Also note that the Carnages run off of “Bungie Time”, which is PDT. Please check this thread regularly for updates. If you signed up to this event and are no longer able to attend please notify us either by sending a private message to one of the organisers (preferred method), or by posting in this thread.

General Information
Anyone signed up must be able to play on the 20th of November at 3PM PDT. If you are not online, a substitute will fill in for you. Don’t be afraid to send any of the organisers a message if you have any questions pertaining to the event. Anyone who has signed up and is not there for the start of the event will be moved to the bottom of the player list or may not get opportunity to play at all. It is critical that you are on time, and even better if you are early.

Reclaimers! TO WAR!

> Reclaimers! TO WAR!

Just to clarify, are you signing up?
Because I’m going to need your gamertag for that.

This is stupid, why do we have to battle with other communities?

> This is stupid, why do we have to battle with other communities?

We’re not battling, we’re simply having a friendly game of Halo.
All the theatrics is really just wordplay, an old fashioned pun rather common within the Halo community.

> This is stupid, why do we have to battle with other communities?

Halo is stupid, why do we have to battle with other people?

It’s a game, mate. It’s for fun. Don’t take things too seriously and instead take a chill pill.

Anywho, I wish I could come but I won’t be able to. Sorry guys! Good luck though! These are always a blast.

And here I was about to link this

  1. I’m perfectly chill, and not your “mate”.

  2. This may be friendly, however it’s a foundation for rivalry and conflict. For whatever reason, there’s heat against both sides already and having this event only continues to add fuel to the fire.

Also, OP, how can there be a tie-breaker if there’s an established 5 games?

> however it’s a foundation for rivalry and conflict. For whatever reason, there’s heat against both sides already and having this event only continues to add fuel to the fire.

I think you’re misunderstanding the purpose and/or function of this event.

This is to create friendships, not conflict.
To have fun, not to breed hate.
Some of my most fun games of Halo have been Community Carnage matches, everyone laughing and having a good time.

> Also, OP, how can there be a tie-breaker if there’s an established 5 games?

There will be two lobbies.
Assuming one Bungie team wins the majority of their matches, and one Waypoint team wins the majority of their matches, then the two winning teams will join together for a final tiebreaker match to determine which side ultimately won the event.

This for obvious reasons.

Enfinit For CMoW!!

The intention of this event is actually the opposite of what you seem to think.

The ‘rivalry’ you see in the OP is all in good fun. This is really about is having a fun time together playing Halo and those that played in the last event, like myself and erickyboo, can attest to that; in fact if you look at the last thread (linked in the OP), you can see this was how everyone took it.

In Enfinits defense (because I misread it myself), the OP itself has the connotation to it of “BUNGIE > WAYPOINT”.

Just saying it has that kind of read to it when you first skim it over.

When I read about the Tiebreaker thing, that’s when I re-read it. Just omit/edit the parts that seem like what I mentioned is all I’d suggest.

The Community Carnage events are a long standing tradition at Bnet. It’s nice to see them migrate to Waypoint. I myself, as lacking in skill that I am, have participated in a few over at Bnet. They are a lot of fun, and there’s a fair amount of humor to it. It’s all in good fun and done out of our common love for Halo.

So, please don’t interpret it as a Ultra MLG event. It’s done in the spirit of creating bridges, not burning them. It’s a good way for both communities to get together and celebrate their common bond.

Nothing against Ultra MLG of course, just meant that it’s not a uber competitive event. Let’s just have some fun.

Sign me up! I was there last time and we lost like three games by a combine total of like 5 points…

> Sign me up! I was there last time and we lost like three games by a combine total of like 5 points…

man that sucks, hopefully we can get some of waypoints golden boys (and gals) to sign up.

Not going to be able to make it to this one. Good luck Waypointers! I’ll be rooting for ya!

Could you guys please post your gamertag in this thread and add the gamertag “Carnage Event” to your friends list?

I can’t add you to the list before you do that.
