Community Advice on Halo 5 (for 343 Industries)

The purpose of this topic is to provide 343 Industries with the community’s advice on Halo 5. The goal of this topic is to create a single source of community feedback for 343i. This way 343i will not be expected to look through hundreds of topics that all cover the same thing and, thus, they will have no excuse for ignoring our valuable feedback.

Feel free to provide your own suggestions or critique other’s in the comment section below. Please note that, in order to maintain this topic’s repute, it is important that you give adequate reasoning to back your statements. This is meant to be a civilized forum for community feedback and I encourage everyone to keep it as such.

Play nice

Add Elites to multiplayer

Remove the canon multiplayer idea

Return of classic weapons: Brute Shot, Plasma Rifle, Spiker, etc. (Cut ones also.)

Return of classic armors

Add new vehicles and old vehicles. (Cut ones also.)

Make the announcer sound normal/original.

All these things do not change multiplayer. It only makes the multiplayer feel more complete.

WHEN the beta comes out, we can then start making suggestions. 343’s motives are set in concrete and they will do as they please with their game. It’s only going to be the “little” things that they will change; nerfing and etcetera.

I recognize the beta isn’t out yet, however, some things, such as aesthetics, can still be critiqued. There is nothing wrong with making suggestions before the release of the beta. Maybe 343i will acknowledge our suggestions and make changes to the beta before it is released. Afterall, the beta will likely determine who will and won’t purchase Halo 5.

The community isn’t in any position to really change anything within the gameplay before the beta releases, however. Aesthetics are one thing, but that is something that should be on the backburner for now.

I think clamber isn’t gonna feel like “an ability.” It’ll just feel like natural jumping. It’ll just make it feel more “grounded” which I think is a good thing. You won’t even think twice about it. I highly doubt it will negate skill jumps either. I do not like your idea about the “jet pack reserves”…again…it’s simply arguing about aesthetic preference…it’s not really a useful or helpful critique or suggestion. It’s simply debating aesthetic preferences. Which I’m not saying aesthetics are pointless. It’s just something that not everyone will agree on.
Honestly, gameplay mechanics is the same. Not everyone is gonna get EXACTLY what they want. They’re not building the game for ME, or for YOU. The more important thing for me is that the game remains arena, equal starts, competitive, skill based, takes multiple shots to kill, doesn’t have too much weapon variance and has a competitive scene around it. As long as that’s intact, I’m good.
Slide is hardly a pointless animation. It has the most potential to be unbalanced and make Halo feel weird. It seems the least thought out and most thrown in of all the abilities…not a ton of info about it other than you can do it, and you can shoot while doing it. We’ll see how it plays out, but I don’t like the sound of it.
Spartan Charge sounded like it would be REALLY dumb also at first. But once I got the big picture I don’t think it will be an issue. Sprint is tied to shields. And Charge is not a OHK unless you are behind them. With those things in place…charge won’t be stupid like it was/is in Destiny. There’s very few scenarios where charge would actually be an affective strategy or where you’d get kills with it. And that’s a good thing.

Ground pound was the same as charge. Sounded like it would be ridiculous. But now that I have the big picture, it probably won’t be a big deal and will not be (again like Destiny) an “oh crap” ability that gives you stupid free and minimally skilled kills. It will only be an affective strategy in limited situations…even then…it will require SOME aiming, and is VERY highly unlikely to actually get a OHK with…especially once people understand the game and realize how easy it is to dodge. (which lots of people won’t at the beginning and they will rage and foam at the mouth about all this stuff).

The other stuff is just aesthetics. Smart scope, etc. I didn’t like some of them at first…but they’re all growing on me, are not a big deal at all, and it will be easy to adapt to.
It’s not really helpful to debate aesthetics. It’s not harmful or anything to say “I like the look of this better, etc.” But ya…they can’t build a game that caters to every individuals aesthetic preferences.

The only make it or break it preference that I think MUST be catered to is that it is a competitive arena shooter and can be played as a sport. And perhaps the most important part to that is having equal starts and a balanced framework where skill, play-making, and teamwork are the only things that separate the teams. Not equipment, abilities, loadouts, etc.
What is really exciting is that 343 is absolutely positioning themselves that way. That’s just freakin’ exciting.

I love the game but im getting tired of you guys changing the button layout because its getting me killed every time

So i suggest you keep it the default with the right thunb stick as melee because its works better because your finger is already on it

Other suggsstion keep the loadout system from halo 4 so we can pick our own guns keep the sniper out smg just the basics

Other suggestion keep the armor abilitys where we can pic them too

Make the armor realistic like halo reachs

My only major critiques as of now are the flinching feature and the fact that being damaged prevents you from using the scope of your weapon. Those two aspects require immediate attention in my opinion. I’m not too fond of the beginning and ending animations of matchmaking games either, but it’s not something I will lose sleep over if it is included in the final version. I simply think it is uneccesary, not to mention unoriginal after witnessing something similar in Destiny’s Crucible. It would be nice if 343 Industries could alter the animations to be, perhaps, a bit more interesting or unique.

There are a few more nitpicky things I could mention, however none of them are qualities I couldn’t merely adjust to with time.

I also agree with the flinch bug as well…I believe that these spartans are stronger and shouldn’t be flinched or zoomed out so often than what I’ve seen…So yeah take the flinch movements out…
