Is anyone having an issue where no one even in ranked has the mic icon next to their name / no one talks on the mic?
I’m under the impression they either don’t have mics or don’t use. Most people in games never communicate so it doesn’t surprise me either.
thats very frustrating when playing ranked, I get social but playing with people that sit in discord or just dont talk make the experience unenjoyable and also hard to win.
its kind of a symptom of modern gaming in general. Less people talk in game chat than the old xbox live days. Usually not talking at all or are in discord with friends.
And when someone does finally talk theyre usually just whining.
You want communication amongst teammates? Bring your friends. You’ll never get it with randoms, and never did back before party chat either. It was always either insults or just random chatter and never about tactics etc.
thats not true at all, I always had communication in previous halos pre halo 5. I was just wondering if people just didnt have there communications settings enabled
people are to scared to say anything in case it upsets someone and they get banned
If you want communication in ranked then playing with randoms is not the way to go. Make a post and get a quick group together. Only takes a few minutes. There is no requirement to have a mic in ranked, so I wouldn’t expect random people to want to talk to you. Why do you think you have a communication ban?
The icons are just locked to the scoreboard.
So you actually have to pull if up to know whose speaking. It’s pretty dumb.
343’s gonna have their work cut out for them.
There is no actual communication. If someone doesn’t have a mic, they sometimes have the icon next to the name. That being said, I am unable to message in ranked games, like they had allowed us to before. I made an entire post about trying to bring back the ability to communicate, but I highly doubt they would allow us to with the way people in general are nowadays. All words are hurtful, regardless of what was said. ![]()
I’ve been having mic issues. I can hear everyone in game chat but they can’t hear me. I’ve checked my settings, restarted the game, and the issue is still there.
I am not sure where your “wisdom” comes from.
I agree with @CaptnIncredible and the OP, it used to be so much better even with randoms talking and giving callouts.
It wouldn’t be rocket science to add a “must have mic” option in matchmaking.
Oh wait, some crybabies would scream foul when suddenly those with mic win
Most people would probably put in a mic, then never use them.
I will say this though, at least in ranked ( honestly, should be both social and ranked ), anyone that complains about other people utilizing their mics to win needs to be flat out ignored. They have the option to use it, and they choose not to, that’s unfortunately your problem, one that you’re going to have to learn to either suck it up and deal with, or start using yourself if you hate being in that much of a disadvantage of. In ranked, people are suppose to be playing to win, and if you choose to put yourself at that much of a handicap, then that’s your problem.
Same issue goes with those who complain about people partying up into groups and stomping randoms in ranked. They choose to play at a disadvantage, and they’re going to have to deal with the consequences of their choice.
My friends and I have turned off all that crap. IE: Spartan voice ETC ETC. We use Teamspeak.( it’s Free! ) So we don’t have to deal with all the screaming, Racists Remarks talking about your mama ETC ETC. So it is not a problem for my friends and I at all. So we don’t worry about. WHY? Cuz we don’t have too!

I would think people are using mics, but are probably in a discord chat or an Xbox party that is unjoinable; so screw the randoms on your team right?
I’m more so talking about people complaining that others are using communication constructively to win matches. I hold nothing against using third party programs to talk to one another.
Why would you or anybody else for that matter?
We have been using Teamspeak for about 15 years now!

I meet alot of people that don’t even know you have to turn chat on in the settings.
They’ll message me after the game wanting to party up cus I was the only one talking
I’m sure this is at least a good chunk of casuals
@CaptnIncredible, yeah. As important as team coordination is, that isn’t why people plug their mics in. You aren’t going to hear much of value unless you bring your own party.
not exactly true.
every once in a while I do find other decent randoms who are awesome team players with great communication skills
