Common REQs (e.g. Carbine) are very hard to get

EDIT: I should have titled the post: “Common REQs like the Carbine are more expensive to get than uncommon/rare REQs” - that’s a more accurate statement of the problem.

This primarily applies in cases where a person has finished bronze and silver packs already. Why should anyone care? Because it’s relatively hard/expensive to stock up on Carbines, common speed boosts, and plasma pistols, three very useful and important early-game REQs!

A silver pack costs 2000 RP after the refund (where you get two 1500 RP cards back, in place of perm unlocks). And typically it contains very few common REQs (maybe 1-2 common cards).

A bronze pack costs 1250 RP - not that much less than a silver pack, and contains a bunch of common cards, but NO RP REFUND. That lack of a refund makes common packs very expensive compared to silver packs, once you’ve finished the unlocks, since you have to wade through tons of useless common reqs like boltshots, basic shotguns, and scout hogs, to find a few valuable ones like carbines.

End result: it’s more expensive to try and get the SUPPOSEDLY “common” carbines or common speed boosts, than it is to try and get uncommon and rare REQs (which I can get from buying lots of silver and gold packs).

The fair solution would be - once you are done with common unlocks, bronze packs should return a 1000 RP refund, with the same frequency that they return perm unlocks (e.g. like 60% of the time).

If anything, there should be a method where you can “place orders” on specific REQs you want. There, you have an increased chance of getting the stuff that you want more frequently, though not by 100%; you’d still have a random chance to get other REQs while buying packs.

To keep things balanced, you can only place a limited amount of orders, but they won’t cost you anything to change it.

You just have to spam bronze packs until satisfied—I managed to accumulate 40+ lvl 1 Speed Boost and base Carbines over a short period from these pack, but those Speed Boost will go away fast…

Daily wins and login packs aren’t very much help either

why is a regular carbine very useful and important in early game? U can have a br at req 3

It helps me get to req 3 faster since my depth perception isn’t very good.

The carbine is a very important tool early on.

I like this idea for sure. To “place orders” on ultra rare of legendary or mythic REQs, you might need a higher spartan rank or larger amounts of common, uncommon, and rare REQs.

Or maybe you have 10 slots but commons take up 1, uncommon take 2, rares take 3, ultra rares take 3, and legendaries take 4. (or whatever numbers are balanced) Also I think it would be fair to only be able to place orders for reqs you already have the certification for.

I can get a pretty good amount of Carbines from Bronze packs.

I’m aware that works - but the whole point of my post is that it takes more RP to get carbines than to get a bunch of good uncommon/rare REQs. Which makes no sense… since carbines are supposed to be common!

In a high-level warzone game, early map positioning by the team is very important. And that means you want to get to those positions BEFORE the enemy team gets there, so there are lots of advantages to calling in a carbine as soon as you secure the home base, and just skipping your armory to head straight to a good map position with that carbine.

For example, on ARC, grab a carbine and head to the top of the arch between the armories to support your team pushing their armory early, before they can cap. You can slay the enemy leaving their armory, or while on top of the armory. If you wait to cap your base and get L3s, the other team will already have capped their armory and be on the way to garage.

Its req level 2 thats why

I don’t know what to say about most weapons but for the carbine just play covent slayer. The carbine is a load out weapon. That’s how I finished it.

You misunderstood the point of my post - I’m talking about WZ and WZ assault. Carbines are useful there for strategy/meta reasons, not for the commendations. I’m level 150… I finished my weapon commendations ages ago.

Ah yeah that one went over my head… I see your point then.

well I prefer the additional ammo magnum over the carbine.

Not everyone plays the same, remember 343 has to think for the whole community

I mean the extended mag magnum is great, for sure. But it doesn’t have anywhere near the range of a carbine - at long ranges the carbine will destroy anyone with a magnum. So in situations where there are going to in early long range battles, you want a carbine ASAP at L2 so you can get into position without waiting for a BR.

i dont think they are hard to get, but some rp return on silver/bronze would be cool
