Common Halo Problems and How to Fix Them

As discussed many times, Halo definitely has some problems. Here are some very prevalent issues with Halo:

.AAs
.Dual Wielding balancing
.Bloom
.Unbalanced weapons
.Plasma vs. UNSC weapons
.Grenade diversity (Flame/Spike grenades are very similar to the Plasma grenades)
.Ranking (Right now anyways)

Most of these issues are frequently brought up for discussion. Now, although some of these may (and should) be removed altogether, we should try and salvage from these problems as much as we can.

.AAs- You could either remove these and put in equipment, or we could turn these into competitive tools by tweaking their traits and and put them in the map instead of load outs, except in Invasion.

.Dual Wielding balancing- A possible solution is that when a weapon is dual wielded, your control on the weapon would be reduced (Bullet spread is increased, not too much though, and recoil is increased). When single wielded, you have much more control on your weapon but not as much firepower.

.Bloom- In most cases, bloom should be left out of the game. Only with weapons such as the AR and the SMG should have bloom, but not too much.

.Unbalanced Weapons- Unbalanced Weapons, such as the BR, can make every other weapon obsolete, ruining the flow of the game. A solution to this problem would be to power the other weapons up, or tone the over powered weapon down.

.Plasma vs. UNSC weapons- Although weapons like the Plasma Rifle and Pistol are useful in removing shields, they should still be valuable in killing an opponent. The Plasma Rifle from Halo: Combat Evolved is a perfect example of a useful plasma weapon. The Rifle tears up the opponent’s shields as it’s primary use, but stuns the enemy after his/her shields are down while killing them, making this weapon useful in both shield depletion and killing the opponent.

.Grenade Diversity- While the Spike and Flame Grenades do have unique traits, we need to branch out to different grenades in this next trilogy. Since we are on a Forerunner Planet in Halo 4, it would be ideal to be introduced to new grenades that go beyond the functions of bounce-and-kill and stick-and-kill.

Ranking- Reach’s ranking system is a very big problem. The credit system takes away the need for competitive play and cooperation as well as nullifying the feel of accomplishment when unlocking armor. Returning to the 1-50 ranking system is the best way to go unless a better system can be invented.

Feel free to post your thoughts or other ideas on these problems as well as posting other problems and how to fix them so we can help 343 Industries make Halo 4 the best Halo game yet!

i think you did a good job of coming up with some ideas for fixes to these problems. However, I personally have never seen any problems with duel-wielding. It has always seemed balanced and fair to me.

  1. Probably wont return
  2. havent dual wielded in 3 4 years
  3. FIXED
  4. Cant really be fixed
  5. Its a strategic/Diverse way
  6. were getting there
  7. now this is something that has to be recognized. a modern day shooter with something that has 1-50 next to it does not look good. this is why 343 might lean torward the halo 3 plan since this was the most successful. so I say stick with reaches ranks/ ad more or change and go with halo 3s style of ranking up

Can I just say, I hope they decrease the power of grenades and only give 1 per spawn. I felt Reach was just I throw-fest on many levels and they were just a tad OP. Just my view.

Note. Only for frags. At least plasmas require skill

People complain about the BR/DMR being over powered. But really they only seem overpowered. Most of the combat in Halo Multiplayer takes place at medium range. What gun is designed for that? the DMR (or BR from Halo 2/3) Personally I prefer the Needle Rifle to the DMR and I preferred the Carbine to the BR in Halo 2/3.
As for AA. I like them in the game a vast majority of the time, and very rarely I hate them. Keeping that in mind, I think they should stay. Yes, I agree they need tweaking, no doubt about that.
Grenades-We should have four frag and four plasma. I miss those days. Maybe they should do a bit less damage but we need the golden triangle back, Guns=Grenades=melee
Now what weapons specifically are, to you, unbalanced?

Here is my idea - get rid of loadouts, but allow them to be picked up - like weapons they spawn at certain locations, and can only be used ONCE. That way someone can’t abuse armor lock or Ninja Vanish with Camo. With a one time use on armor lock people will choose their emergency wisely.

Dual wielding is way over powered. But entertain this thought: a DMR in each hand O_O
Double swords, plasma pistol overcharge and magnum in other hand, ultimate noob combo.

I wouldn’t mind if the DMR was retired from service permenantly. The covenant have the needle rifle, decendant of the carbine, the UNSC has the sniper rifle.

I want to see credits gone in Halo 4, that and commendations. Credits go towards rank, commendations add to your credits which increase your rank. Remove both of them so that people don’t stick with a certain weapon type, like tanks in BTB, or the sniper. Without credits boosting your rank, like game complete, there is no point to boost. I’ve said that in so many posts it’s an unending echo. If you want an armory to customize your character fine, but do it a different way than purchasing. Make it something like certain armor items are unlocked and available to use at a certain rank or profficiency level. Reaching a positive K/D ratio unlocks a prestegious permutation. Or something like earning Perfection medals unlocks an item. Beating a level in reach on legendary without dying unlocks carters helmet as an avatar award, so reaching a milestone in matchmaking could unlock something.

Those are my thoughts.
