Is there a way to review commendation awards ingame? Or in menu of the game rather.
Also how can I check my level progress in game?

Yeah. If you press the start button (aka menu button), and go to “Service Record”, you should be able to navigate to your commendation progress.

I haven’t touched Halo 5 in months, but I know for a fact you can view your commendation progress in game. I just can’t remember specifically how to do it.

While in the menus, go to your Spartan Hub > Career > Commendations. There, you can check your progress while in-game.
