Commendations That Need a Fixing

There are 2 commendations in this game that definitely need to be revised, with a 3rd that I think could use a mild revision as well. You can probably guess which they are, but here we go:

Unstoppable: Why was this not a commendation for perfect rounds or something of that sort??? Surviving a whole match of breakout is ridiculous. It also is detrimental to the game to have people sitting around in the back the whole time trying not to die once. I don’t see how anyone can get this without having a team who can win without you. To finish this commendation you need 63 total unstoppables. Absurd.

And Stay Off: No doubt everyone knew this one was coming. Most people aren’t stupid enough to clamber in front of enemies, and, when they do, they typically have FAR too much shielding/health remaining to die in the split second it takes to clamber. I know level 140 players who still need 20+ of these things. A total of 105 is needed. Why do we need 105 of one the luckiest medals in the game?

Mongoose Destroyer: This is the one that could maybe benefit from a mild reduction. Mongooses are, thankfully, much more destroyable than in previous games; however, I still find the 105 it takes to finish this commendation to be a bit much. They’re not used THAT much, and even when they are it’s pretty difficult to blow one up without killing the driver first.

Other honorable mentions:

Warden Slayer: A lot of people complain about this one. While I do feel like it’s time consuming, I actually think the numbers they expect of it are pretty fair. It only wants 26, and every warzone game has an opportunity (granted you aren’t beating the other team to a pulp).

Aggressive Expansion: I dunno. I actually have a good deal of these capture spree medals, but it may be a bit much to expect 63 of them.

Mantis, Phaeton, and Spartan Laser Commendations: I put these on here because other people frequently complain about them. Honestly, the problem with these commendations isn’t the commendations but the items themselves. The Spartan Laser is possibly the only gun in the game I genuinely believe needs alterations. If you don’t hit someone dead in the chest with it, they don’t die, which seems pretty strange to me for a weapon with a large charge up time and a beam that makes it ridiculously easy to evade. There’s an argument that it’s meant to be exclusively anti-vehicle, but even for vehicles it’s incredibly weak. It takes 2 shots to hit a banshee, a fast moving vehicle that can easily evade the beam, and the gun only comes with 4 shots! As for the phaeton and mantis, the problem is that both these vehicles are essentially made out of tissue paper. A mantis is a level 7 req, and yet the other day I tried to take on a wraith with one and was brought down in 2 shots. They’re also absurdly easy to board, even from the front. Phaetons suffer from the fact that they’re so high in the req system that, by the time they’re called in, almost everyone has DMRs with kinetic bolts and access to anti-vehicle power weapons with ease. Not only that, but the phaeton’s weak spot is the ENORMOUS yellow circle on its underside. It’s crazy easy to bring one down with just a short, concerted team effort.

That’s my 2 cents on some commendations that need improvements. Let me know what you think of these, or if you have more to add!

Phaeton needs a Buff the way it is now someone can Private Ryan that thing.

I agree with you on all of them except I finished my Aggressive Expansion commendation so it can’t be that hard. I was focused on completing it though. You need to be stealthy and only go where you know there is minimal action on the map.

Agreed Opposite of the Map Flow and stick to the fringes of the maps.

Phaeton Gunship is actually pretty awesome. I’ve gone on a Rampage in one. You just have to use it correctly, not like a Banshee. Great Anti-vehicle aircraft, less anti-infantry. My problem was the rate at which I received Phaetons. I once went 6 days, buying about 30 Gold packs a day, without getting one Phaeton. I did finally get the commendation, though. Quite a wonderful aircraft.

Mantis sucks, except ONI. I agree there, but at least I get a ton of them. Its chaingun needs a buff, or slower time to bloom, and missiles need to be a little more accurate.

Spartan Laser can be tough, but its got a learning curve. I never use it on infantry, only vehicles and bosses.

Aggressive Expansion is a little frustrating, but doable.

Unstoppable is evil. I have no idea whose idea it was, but they deserve something just as evil. I completed it, along with all other commendations in the game, but it took a lot of Arena Breakout in the weekend playlist.

Mongoose Destroyer was a matter of time. Lasers, Railguns, Scorpions, Wraiths, Phaetons, etc. are all good. Just keep killing.

And Stay Off is stupid. Too luck based, though I get tons of Cliffhangers now that I’ve finished it (go figure…)

Warden Slayer took me forever simply because I had no Scorpions for a long time, as I’d sell many of them in the hopes that I’d get a Phaeton.

Those are my thoughts. How about you guys?

the Unstoppable in all honestly should be Removed. Mongoose destroyer may need to be too unless it counts gungoose as well.

The warden one and the “and stay off” are the biggest issues for me. Maybe 2/10 times I’ll get a kill for him. The last 3 kills I’ve gotten on him have counted as legendary boss kills I’m my commendations and not as warden kills. Very annoying.

Probably the biggest one I have a complaint with is Unstoppable…but thats mostly cause I dont bother playing Breakout. Just not my type of game really.
Everything else I can handle. Mostly its just a matter of grinding (even And Stay Off…Swat is amazing for it for obvious reasons). Mongoose’s and Spartan Laser you can get in Big Team Battle (Recurve is amazing for it, that Gauss Hog messes Gooses’s up)

Agree. Unstoppable is one I’ll never get because I hate breakout and even if I liked it, the only way to get it is pure domination or camping/hiding.

I agreed with you on Unstoppable and warden eternal.

i feel like they need to add levels for some of the weapons, especially load out weapons

i remember in reach it wasn’t as easy to complete commendations

i hate using assassinations because 1. my teammates always steal the kill and 2. if not the other team gets a showstopper

in all other halos it was still an assassination if you back-wacked someone. now it is only considered an assassination if you use their stupid animations. its still a one hit kill, it should still be an assassination without the animation. the fact that they force you to use the animations to get the assassination commendation is ridiculous. i would have it done 2x over if it werent for this.

unstoppable and cliffhangers are ridiculous. mantis destroyer is hard because i rarely even see a mantis. id say 1/10 warzone games i actually see someone with a mantis, and usually it is dead before i can attempt to destroy it. if they had a mantis on BTB still i could make do because you would have at least 2 to destroy every game. now i have to wait for the chance that an enemy spawns a mantis? ya i wont play enough to get that done, especially the way this game is going. itll be dead sooner than we want it to if they dont add more gametypes/playlists. then none of this will matter

how about the fact that after days and days of playing this game to finish commendations they make a brand new set of commnedations seperate from the in game commendations just to try and get me to do another 1000 ground pounds. i already finished ground pound, dont use them unless i have to. now i find out that those dont count for anything in my spartan company? i really couldnt care less bout the new armor, so i will not be finishing the spartan company commendations. just ridiculous. maybe if i had incentive to play more id get some of these commendations done.

add more BTB maps asap, as well as more playlists (less weekend and more permanent)
