Commendations in Halo Infinite

How do you guys think commendations should look like in the future? Should they be like Reach and just award xp, like Halo 4 with unlockable armor, or Halo 5’s?(Let’s be honest, Halo 5 commendations didn’t give great rewards.) I’d like the commendations to be challenging and rewarding, with them giving emblems, weapon skins, armor, etc. I do think that they should all be reasonable though. Not like the commendation in Halo 5 that required you to survive a full match of breakout.(Maybe I just suck?) Anyways, I wanna hear what you guys think.

I liked reach commendations, the iron-onyx levels have them a nice sense of progression, and showing other players % completion was cool. I agree that the really hard medals should stay out of commendations though, such as perfections.

As for that breakout medal don’t worry you aren’t alone, it’s very unfair. Because there is no unranked playlist for breakout it’s extremely rare to match up against a team of players worse than you. In addition they added “extermination” to the playlist which is almost impossible to earn the commendation in.

I really wanted to get all the commendations in halo 5 but now those breakout ones are all that’s left and I have no motivation to try and complete them. I think it was unfair of 343 to add that commendation without a reasonable way to complete it and I hope they don’t do that again in the future.

Very challenging and specific criteria is better suited for achievements and challenges imo. Commendations should be more like Reach’s.

Reach all the way. Reach had good, rewarding progression. I also liked how you could see commendation completion percentage, and the commendations themselves, for other players. I just wish that more credits were awarded for an onxy commendation.

I found Halo 5’s commendations rather pointless because the rewards were horrible. Also, other people could not see them.

Thank for the feedback! Things like the breakout commendation really turn me off to playing the mode, which is the exact opposite of what commendations are supposed to do. They’re meant to attract players to certain modes.

I liked reachs because it takes really long meanwhile halo 5 took too quick.

I don’t like how specific or numerous commendations got over time. I think they worked better as broad challenges you worked towards over time. Having the challenges be for “Automatics” and “Sidearms” as opposed to splitting it up across each individual weapon prevented players from needing to use weapons they don’t like or that sucked in general to complete them. You shouldn’t be throwing games trying to get 500 plasma pistol kills if you want to be a completionist, when just playing naturally you’d undoubtedly get enough Pistol, Boltshot, Mauler, or Needler kills over time to do it.

Reach is great for sure! I also think Halo 4’s was pretty good as well. I liked how you needed to get x number of kills with a specific weapon to unlock a certain skin. That system wasn’t the best for the Plasma Pistol skins, but a minor flaw in my mind. So, either the system from Reach, Halo 4, or a combination of the two. But, definitely not anything like the REQ system from Halo 5!
