I have noticed this since the game first came out and i really hope 343 has something planned to fix this problem. The XP rewards you get from commendations are minuscule. The amount of XP you need to get to the max rank(152) is staggering. It’s great that 343 Industries thought to “help” us out with XP rewards in the form of commendations but the XP isn’t even noticable, even for a level 5 or mastery completion. Some of these commendations are really difficult to complete and it’s even harder to get the mastery commendations. When you finally finish grinding for days you get a whopping 1000 XP and a few non permanent reqs(besides the emblems of course) for your efforts. I think this is a huge missed opportunity. If the commendations were worth it people would love to spend all day grinding to complete them like in Halo Reach. I believe a good fix would be to increase the amount of XP you are rewarded exponentially, especially for the Spartan Company commendations. My company has completed multiple level 5 commendations and we only got 500 XP for it! that’s ridiculous, we should get at least 50k XP or something around that amount for our efforts. Even then 50k would barely be a dent in the grind to 152, so you can see how getting 500 xp for acquiring tens of thousands of a specific type of kill or objective completion a big slap in the face. If it’s impossible to increase XP gains from commendations or match completions, then maybe the XP boosts could be increased? The XP boosts give you a pitiful amount of XP as well in Arena and Warzone playlists. Or maybe instead of giving a set amount of XP after a match, we can get a percentage of the XP we need to get to our next level. That way the grind would be less insane for higher leveled players. I would love to hear other opinions on this.
I’ve never understood why anyone gives a crap about spartan rank in any of the 3 most recent halo’s? It’s a meaningless number that doesn’t denote skill or achievement just time played

Some people just like to grind until they have the max rank, it just feels good, it feels like you are accomplishing something. I like to play ranked just as much as the next guy but i also like to look like a veteran, you know? Whenever i see a high ranking player i have respect for their dedication to the grind.
