If the commendation feature will be reintroduced I would like to offer two suggestions.

It would be nice if commendation progress was transfered over from Reach. I don’t see why it should be game-specific. If needed, why not just increase the amount needed just a bit. But there’s really no sense in starting over.

There are 3 major weapon kill commendations:
-Automatic
-Percision
-Pistol
Well some people are better at one thing vs the other. Someone who prefers the pistol over percision or automatic should have to get more pistol kills to rank, and less of the others. The game should ask you which you prefer when you log in for the first time.
Example:
“Welcome to Halo 4, which weapon-type do you prefer?”
^–Pistol
“Which do you least prefer?”
^–Automatic
Commendaitons Needed To Rank (example):
1000 Kills - Automatic
2000 Kills - Percision
3000 Kills - Pistol
