All right so let me start off by saying that I absolutely love Halo 4. I liked the campaign it was pretty cool, I just got into Spartan Ops and it’s pretty cool too, and the multiplayer is such a fun experience for me. The game is different, which I expected it to be, but overall 343i did an excellent job on it, but then again this is my opinion and you guys are entitled to yours. I know plenty about opinions because hey, we’ve all seen it on the forum!
The purpose of this thread however is about a pretty small scale issue but its the first thing that kind of bugged me a bit about the game. As we all know Reach wasn’t the best Halo game out there, but in my opinion was quite fun too. Reach had the commendation system which, to my knowledge, had not been in previous halo games but I never played ODST so I don’t know. Anyway, I found myself mastering commendations at will and am now nearing the dreaded SR130. The commendation and leveling up process should be much, much larger even more so than Reach’s was because people were getting a lot of ONYX ones by the end of last year. It’s one of THE things I believe H4 should have drawn from Reach. I guess I just miss the thrill of checking it and seeing you’re only a few hundred kills away from maxing it out.
Like I said, it’s not really a big issue at all, but in my opinion it could keep even more gamers playing the game so they don’t have that “satisfied 'Ok cool I’m done”’ kind of feeling. It could keep them striving towards that goal of eventually “Onyx”-ing them out. I guess this is more of a suggestion than anything so that 343i will actually make them ridiculously impossibly huge commendations like Reach did, where you start off completely overwhelmed, then months maybe years later you go “Oh my God! I’m almost there!” Same could be done with with this SR130, and make new leveling up modes with cooler names. It’s not that I really care the game is extremely fun, it just bugs me that everything just kinda stops. If something could be done it’d be pretty neat, just voicing my concern I do love Halo!
