I’ve decided I want to unlock it. There is one problem, though. I’ve never played a single game of Dominion. How long do you guys think it’ll take me if I start now?
I don’t have it but i know it take 240 games, from 0/5 to 5/5. I’m only guessing, though.
It goes like this:
0/5 - 5 games
1/5 - 10 games
2/5 - 25 games
3/5 - 50 games
4/5 - 150 games
Yeah, I was thinking it was a lot of wins. This oould take months…
Side note, how did you make your steel color look so much darker than mine? Is it just the pose?
Key to winning Dominion games is to go in with a full party of 6. If you’re soloing it then it’s gonna take forever. If you manage to get a decent party going then you’ll finish it off pretty fast. Could be within a week to a month, depending on how much you play, and also if you’re just playing that gametype or if you like playing several gametypes.
Hmmm… I always play solo. Good tip. I find that even if my personal record is good when I play solo, my win ratio suffers. It’s hard not being able to communicate, or control the skill of other randoms.
Believe stance does make armor look darker.
Dominion is horrendously difficult to win in going solo.
If you play Dominion with friends and understand how the scoring system works, it’s pretty easy to win.
Mastery: 300 wins to do only for an armor for only 5000xp… I will dont lose my time for this and others commendations.
For the first few months I pretty much only played dominion, and I am only at 4/5.
So I would guess 3 months non-stop dominion. And who knows how the game will fare by then. So mostly a waste of time.
You’ll drive yourself mad if you try to win solo. I have been to the edge…
Other humble words of advice for Dominion victories:

Objective > K/D.

Those turrets can make a difference.

Don’t always run for the enemy base… if a resupply is coming, it might not hurt to wait. Nothing takes a base faster than a Rocket Launcher or Incineration Cannon with the Ammo Perk.

A well-piloted Wraith or Banshee will drive the other team mad. Just make sure your team is in the lead or everyone else is focused on capturing the bases.

Mobility is great… those extra seconds could win you the game. Dominion games can go down to the wire with two aggressive teams.

Flood Victory Master…
If you don’t care about the skin, you COULD go for the Flood Victory - Master Commendation. You will unlock another Commando Armor there. And IMO Flood Victories are way easier to do solo (not to mention Flood is meant to play solo).
Just saying.

Edit: Seraphim Crypto answered my question whilst I was typing it. I’ve never noticed a Commando skin in my armory. There’s one I’ll never earn…

It unlocks another kind of commando helmet.
I need like 11 Flood wins to get it, but I have not played much these days.
I’m going for the dominion commendation, I think I’m on step 3/5. If only the commando armour was as good as Halo Reachs.
I’ve played a lot of Dominion and Flood. I’m mostly a solo player though, so playing Flood seems to be a much easier way of unlocking Commando. Dominion would probably be better if you played with a team/party imo. Currently I have 30/150 wins in the Flood commendation so I’m getting close to that Commando.

lol, well, besides having my secondary Aqua/Teal, the Steel color is darker b/c of the Believe Stance, which you unlock after completing the Forerunner Ordnance Commie.
go in with a team and it doesn’t take long. you even get some games that can last about a minute against poorer opposition and quitters.
this took me about 2 weeks to do. its a shame because it’s one of the best game types and I don’t bother with it anymore.
tbh I’m not that keen on h4 commando armour anyway
I just mastered it yesterday. Don’t have a team so I did it solo.
