Yeah it needs tuning. It’s great at melting shields but it just can’t finish the job.
I think the Commando is just OK. Its more of a precision weapon but the increased bullet count to kill and the recoil make it difficult to use. Not sure if a damage boost would fix it completely but it would feel more satisfying, it should excel when in the hands of someone with good aim and recoil control. Possibly increase the crosshair size slightly and see if it feels better.
Try tapping instead of holding, it will be a lot better.
Commando is a nightmare, I did achievement on bot camp, it’s easier. I still use it in pvp as need to use it to figure out how to kill with the huge recoil
Tap fire is a mistake. You’re leaving DPS on the table more often than not and if you do that then there’s almost no point in using the Commando over the BR.
Long five round bursts with a very slight pause between them. This is the way. Bloom on most guns in Infinite is a delayed thing where after a set number of shots you hit the break point and it goes crazy. First five shots have zero bloom on the Commando.
You can easily tap fire as fast or faster as the basic commando firing speed.
It felt better in the Flight for sure.
Did they really only change it so that it takes one more shot to kill? Seems like that change wouldn’t have that big of an impact in terms of its performance but I can barely kill anyone with it now.
I definitely need to practice with it more, it’s a bit embarrassing when I spray an entire clip and still don’t get the kill lol
I like it. I like trying to manage the recoil. It’s fun. It gives the gun it’s own unique flavor.
Sure but the bloom doesn’t change. Easier to hold a steady rhythm and focus on your aim.
I hate the commando as a controller user. It’s always on racks that also have brs, as if they are ment to be on the same level. Like some games it will be a br on that rack and other times (same map same rack) it’s a commando. But they aren’t on the same level at all.
I almost never pick it up and I’m always just disappointed that there’s no br when I see a commando rack. I think they need to increase the reticle size to be the same as the br size and increase clip size as well as overall ammo size. The way it works now it is not comparable to the br. Either increase clip size or reduce recoil a lot. The margin for error is too small, especially for an automatic weapon

It’s feel like they tried to combine the Dmr and carbine into a single weapon, it just doesn’t have the mag to reliably kill someone and the stability to consistently hit someone, combined with bloom make landing a headshot annoying, especially since if a teammate helping out, they’ll usually get the kill first
From what i’ve tried it seems to help the bloom not grow so fast, I might be imagining things but for me it helps.
As many have already said. I played in one of the last flights and the commando felt like an AWESOME weapon to use. Now it feels like a weapon I try to avoid picking up unless i have to because it does such pitiful damage that it’s outclassed by the AR in almost every way. Feels like to me the AR and commando need to have their damage values swapped.
Commando more dmg? You want a cod weapon be the go to for halo - heck even competitive?

There’s 3 things you need to know about the Commando (have trained it because of the achievement):
-range of use close midrange
-get comfy with a simple down motion to control recoil (same with sentinel beam.)
-Commando dmg on unshielded targets: 1 HEADSHOT ONLY.
Finishing off targets with BODY SHOTS shouldn’t be a thing on the Commando. That -Yoink!- isn’t meant to spam mindlessly. There’s COD for that
Idk why people always have to bring CoD into the discussion…Has literally nothing to do with the fact that the weapon feels very underwhelming to say the least. Especially if you played in any of the flights where it was actually an awesome weapon to use. And b4 the CoD thing comes out again, I’ve played halo since CE…so literally nothing to do with my opinion on CoD.
I just elaborated on WHY the comparison is made rationally. You projected it onto you like that.
In the flight the Commando was so broken, it made every other sandbox weapon irrelevant. Now it has its moments (close midrange aka sentinel beam of unsc) while not overshadowing the classic br in its moments
