I wonder if we’re heading towards coming full circle when it comes to the flood. In that the flood will come back and will eventually become virtually unstoppable and humanity faces the decision of whether or not to fire the halo rings. The same decision the forerunners faced, and the decision humanity makes will help determine if they inherit the mantle or not.
Cliched I know but if the flood do come back, I’d love them to become as powerful as they were towards the end of the Forerunner-Flood war
I hope in Guardians we will see what brings the flood back into the fray it’s been almost 10 years without the -Yoinks!- and 343’s lovecraftian approach to their origins just smells of great in game material. Also with 343’s knack of redesigning I want to see what the flood look like now and if we will possibly see the return of a gravemind or a Keymind :0 the possibilities.

If they are intending to use the SoF as their vessel of return, I doubt a ‘gravemind’ will be able to form in time before their discovered. But then again it doesn’t make sense to fight the flood for the survival of civilization with only a keymind.
