Comic series that leads into Halo Infinite

Halo: Escalation was a 24 issue comic series that bridged the gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians. I enjoyed it a lot and would like to see something like this again. The only Halo media we have that is set after Halo 5 is some stories from both Tales From Slipspace and Fractures, Legacy of Onyx, Bad Blood and Halo Wars 2. I have not read Bad Blood just yet but I know the basic plot of it. All I’m saying is, we know very little about what the galaxy is like after Cortana’s uprising. I think a comic series that follows the Infinity’s adventures would help us really understand what the galaxy is like right now. A few side stories would also be good. I would like to see Gray Team again and having them have their own mini arc would be nice.

We’ll defitely need to be brought up to speed in Infinite. Based on how 343 has said Infinite will be good for someone to play as their first Halo game, I think it will be explained in-game. Relying on expanded universe material to explain plot points and characters can get a little sloppy like it did in Halo 5. That being said, I like your idea of some type of expanded universe material to add more depth to Infinite, without it being necessary to understand Infinite’s story.

I’m less about wanting something to explain plot points but more about wanting something that shows us what the galaxy is like. It’s very uncertain right now.

I expect a Halo ODST star wars opening crawl rip off and in-game logs to flesh out the EU at that point in time.

Escalation came out after Halo 5 and wrapped up the Janus Key story line along with some other interesting topics. The time jump between Halo 4 and Halo 5 made room for something like Escalation to come in and fill those gaps. If 343 were to keep that going, and if Infinite is supposed to be set two years after the events of Halo 5, then after the game’s release we could have some stories that bridge the gap between Halo 5 and Infinite. I’d say I’m all for it OP.

Exactly. This is why I don’t want ancillary material like this to come before the game.

Escalation started before 5 but ended after 5 was released

The issue with this is that if the game requires you to read a bunch of outside books and comics. Then we will have casuals not knowing what is going on just like halo 4 and halo 5. Also 343i has said multiple times that they are going with simple stores and books/comics stuff won’t enter the games.
