Come on 343

I’m typically really positive about 343 and even the demo. If I had the demo I’d probably find a way to play for days. I personally like the overall art style. The sidekick just does not look like a halo weapon, it looks like something from modern warfare. At a minimum give it some lights. Having this instead of the classic magnum is just not cool. Both is fine, both is great, but replacement? This goes for the shotgun as well. If they really are going to be replacements, they need to look like the actually belong. Clean is fine to me for the, but for unsc stuff add like steel grain overlay. The halo 3 ar is pretty clean, but it has a grain to it. We don’t need another halo 5 rocket launcher, and I say that as somekne who liked halo 5. I want halo to succeed, I think the game looks fun and I’m still excited, but just come on, don’t give more people reasons to hate it, it sucks to have that hatred in the community.

The demo was from “weeks ago.”

Lol we’re finished. I bet half the core features won’t be at launch either.

Was there a statement saying that the sidekick was replacing the magnum? Or the shotgun? I would imagine with an expansive open world, 343 would want a ton of different weapons but that’s just my guess.

Yes in the most recent Waypoint community article from 343

Agreed, the Sidekick looks like a regular generic gun while the Halo 5 magnum was simply perfect. And even it shared roles with the Gunfighter and Tactical magnum. Why this can’t be the case for Infinite too? The rocket launcher at least they managed to give it cool variants to justify the two models and it was a welcoming addition.
I don’t understand why these weapons which behave differently can’t be together in the game. I’m good for additions and not uglier replacements in sacrifice of other weapons that functions so greatly.

With MCC, Halo’s 1-4 were already made. All they literally had to do was update the graphics, add some new features, and still give me that old classic nostalgia feeling. Even somehow, they still botched that and still needs fixes on bugs still present from years ago. HW2 has a major bug were the player’s save-data does not permanently save and keeps getting automatically deleted.

If they can’t even get their older games right, how should I have confidence in getting their new games right? Either way, my optimism has actually declined a bit more since reading their latest Community Update.

I understand the struggles with mcc due to the years of code shoved together. Most games don’t unify under a single ui. I can appreciate what they’ve done for mcc and still love it greatly, even with the flaws. I loved 5, even if thr story wasn’t that good. I made great friends playing multiplayer. Infinite gives me hope and I’m excited, but there’s just a couple things like this that kinda go the opposite way.

exactly, I’d be absolutely fine with that, that’d be fantastic, but taking away stuff doesn’t help at all. Halo 5 did have a great magnum. It could have maybe used the lights on the back, but it was great nonetheless. This is just such a strange choice and it’s not helping. Graphics are graphics, they’ll be polished eventually, and the older weapons can be added in, but it’s a slap in the face.
