Combining regions in low population playlists

So the Dedicated servers have made Matchmaking more stable, and overall improved the performance of online gameplay. That’s a great thing, but there is still a problem.

As the servers are regional, it means that populations are reduced, which can be problematic. I’m in Australia, and I’d hazard a guess that our regions population is lower than the US. That’s not neccessarily a bad thing, but it makes the low population playlists incredibly problematic.

I’ve been playing a lot of Halo 5’s multiplayer, and I love it but I’ve never been able to find a game in the FFA playlist, or Warzone Assault. It’s not my connection, as all other playlists are fine. This happens regardless of the time of day I try it.

Recent information suggests that these playlists have low populations in other regions as well, so in the interest of keeping them active, I think we should explore the possibility of combining low population regions. It only needs to be for playlists with this problem, and as such, should’t effect the stability of other playlists.

I think you should emigrate. The U.S. is lovely this time of year and we have a reasonable-sized Halo population. And there are other attractions such as our fine restaurants, exciting night life, and top-50% healthcare system. We’d love to have you. Please bring some Vegemite and a koala bear. Thanks!

Thanks for the offer, but I don’t know if I could take your whacky lifestyles, with things like Christmas in winter, and summers with temperatures below 5 billion degrees.

Ah, but we have places like Arizona for those of you who are temperate-weather-challenged. And even in a place like Tucson you are slightly closer to our servers than you are in Brisbane.

But on the serious side, I’m sure that you must have played matches, even if only in older Halos, against people state-side or wherever, and aren’t those matches usually almost unplayable due to ridiculous amounts of lag? Wouldn’t that pretty much undo any benefit to be had by getting into the desired play list in the first place?

Kangaroos are awesome. Sorry, I just had to say it. Freaking AWESOME. I’m actually jealous.

I honestly never really encountered the horrendous kinds of lag that I’ve seen others complaining about, regardless of where the people I’m matched against come from. In the old days, I’d hear all kinds of accents coming over the microphones and had very few issues with lag.

Personally, I’d rather have the ability to try out a playlist, even with the risk of lag, then have a playlist sitting there that I can never use.

Bro ive been complaining about this too, im in guam which is above australia for the most part and cant find ffa, btb, or warzone assault games!!

Same problems here in BRAZIL, i cantora find any matches for FFA, BTB, SWAT and WARZONE ASSAULT. Next uptade brings a new Warzone Assult map that wount be able to play if is exclusive to the mode! Now thats just great!!!

Same, “Unable to join” for FFA, BTB, SWAT and WARZONE ASSAULT

Combining low-population areas is great!

Yes.

If they could explain why it is region locked (May not be on purpose) and the options available to us, it would help. Having to make new accounts to even get games and I don’t want to ruin someone else’s game experience by beating gold players

This is such a serious problem but it gets little media attention.

The servers are not regional. There are many threads on here posted by European players, Australian players, and Spanish speaking only players, that complain they’re getting matchmade to the United States too often.

I just got done posting a thread that I’m sick of being matchmade with folks that don’t even speak the language requirements of this forum.
