I’m not sure if the title is worded right, but I have 2 simple straight forward questions.
-
What do you play halo 4 for?
When you jump in matchmaking, do you have your mind set on winning and playing hard? Or do you play because just you love your halo, and don’t care too much if you lose? Or do you play for an in between the two?

Which playlist do you prefer? throwdown or infinity slayer?
Leave it simple everyone. Thanks for reading and contributing!
I play to win, I hate losing, that being said I prefer the infinity slayer playlist (not necessarily the IS settings) only because I search solo the majority of the time and throwdown is a team centric playlist
I always try to win.
I prefer Infinity Slayer. Surprising I know.
Going down the list of why I don’t prefer Throwdown;
-Slow search times.
-Limited map selection, poor map selection.
-More serious play that I would be a burden on for various reasons (not necessarily skill-wise).
-BR starts.
-Slow Shields.
I like to call myself a casual try hard. I play primarily for fun. However I am a strong player and will go for the win. I also do enjoy competitive matches as they can be really intense, hence why I played allot of MLG in Halo Reach.
But in Halo 4 I feel Throwdown is harder than MLG was in Reach. Almost none of my friends play Halo 4 leaving me to search solo. Not many people use mics meaning there is little communication. I also feel that aspects of Halo 4 have made Throwdown harder for me. Such as the controller settings I use is Default which is inferior to Bumber Jumper which I am currently trying to learn through Spartan Ops.
I do go for the win but usually don’t care. Team mates are just shocking in this game. There has been Swat games where I have gone 42 kills 18 deaths yet still not win…
That said I do prefer Throwdown despite only playing in several tines.
I play to kill enemies lol. Also I like the sci fi theme and the one Spartan vehicles. Ghost and Mantis in particular.
In between of the two. Like to be a bit competitive but in the end its about having fun more than anything.
Don’t have a team so have never really ventured into Throwdown. Infinity Slayer is more at my level at the moment.
I play halo 4 because despite some changes in the game that i dislike I still have more fun in it’s MP then any other FPS out. Battlefield is the other shooter i mainly play now as well.
I like to be both the mixed of Competitive and Social, for a good reason. I cannot have enjoy myself if I take it seriously, but also I like to win. I tend to talk about subjects off topic, away from the match really. I tend to play better when I have more things on my mind.
Infinity gametypes, for which I have the freedom to choose my weapons. Why have all Br’s when I can use the Carbine? And in Throwdown makes me unable to work on commendations, low map choices (as a user here already stated,) and it’s full of teammates (which I usually meet up with) who start to smack talk me because “I’m not serious enough.”
I play customs. I dislike Matchmaking in this game, and avoid it every chance I get.
Neither Infinity nor Throwdown offer maps and gametypes I want to sit through and actually play. I prefer settings that offer more than just the BR on maps with consistent weapon spawns.
I play because I enjoy Halo’s gameplay. Unfortunately Halo 4 detracts from this in big ways with flinching, custom loadouts (in regular playlists) and sprint.
I like trying to get good at activities that I enjoy, so I play to get better.
When given a choice I’ll play Throwdown over Infinity Slayer every day, even though IS is a lot more bearable now that it has a Slayer Pro option. Ultimately I’d rather play customs than any playlist - better maps, better gametypes.
Every game I go out and try to help get a win for my team, but I’m going to have fun doing it.
I am a competitive casual gamer when it comes to Halo. I play to win, I want to have fun while I do it.
The second question you ask I voted for Infinity Slayer but this isn’t quite of a good answer. Slayer is my favorite game type, period. I much prefer Team Throwdowns settings but, I have to be in the mood for playing the other objective game modes. If I could have a slayer only playlist with Team Throwdown settings, I would be a happy man.
I play to win. Losing isn’t a big deal to me unless it was due to bad teammates. I’ll respect the opposition as long as they weren’t using the same tactics my 10-year-old nephew would (e.g. camping excessively with power weapons and body-humping after easy kills). Honestly, it’s not so much about me or my team winning as it is playing well. For me, the best Halo matches are when we just barely squeak out a win through teamwork and strategy against players who are as good or better than us.
I hate the randomness and lack of strategy that comes with Personal Ordinance, so I haven’t played Infinity Slayer since long before the CSR update. I much prefer Throwdown, Doubles, Snipers, and SWAT.
Sidenote: I like this thread. It’s cool to see such a wide variety of opinions without any argument about whose opinion is better.
I play to get kills, and to win. I’m also very competitive.
Can I say Campaign and SpOps?
I play to get better. I of course enjoy winning and achieving incredible feet’s in game but when I think about it the primary driving force that keeps me playing is the desire to improve. I am always trying new strats, practicing new jumps, learning map routes, needlessly playing aggressively with the Sniper to test my skills, reviewing my gameplays. I’ not sure why either. it’s not like I am practicing for a tournament or anything, I just enjoy doing it.
I just play for the sake of playing. Having fun and relaxing for a bit. I try to win obviously but it’s not what I solely care about.
> Can I say Campaign and SpOps?
I love the campaign and spartan ops, but were talking about the matchmaking aspect here friend.
In between. I like throwdown’s objective modes more especially CTF, but I prefer infinity for slayer game modes. shrug
