Combat Evolved and Halo 4 similarities.

Their are many things that are very comparable between CE and Halo 4. I just want to know if anyone else found anything that was oddly similar?

I’m not sure if I’m the first to notice this(I’m sure I’m probably not) but at the end of both Halo CE and Halo 4 the game ends with Chief taking his helmet off. Both games also end with words that deal with starting. CE “I think we’re just getting STARTED” H4 “The reclamation… has already BEGUN”. I just thought it was neat and some of you might find it interesting.

If you’re looking for a reference to that line in a later Halo game, then this is a much better example.

Halo 1 ending:

Cortana: “Halo…it’s finished.”
Master Chief: “No, I think we’re just getting started.”

Halo 3 ending:

Cortana: “Truth, and the Covenant, the Flood…it’s finished.”
Master Chief: “It’s finished.”

The Lich crashing and the Banshee crashing near a hanger.

I honestly can’t think of a single similarity between CE and Halo 4 besides the fact that I guess you start the game in space with the covenant boarding your ship (even though that mission in Halo 4 really got me annoyed in so many different ways).

The only covenant enemies faced in both games are grunts, elites, jackals and hunters. Also, in both, vehicles can be taken down easily by guns. A feature that is ironically frowned upon despite the urge for halo 4 to be more like CE.

Go back and play Halo CE multiplayer and try and blow up a warthog. When you’re done let me know, while you’re at it fire the gunner turret till it overheats or runs out of ammo. I believe a fella named Tucker once had a theory that it had to run out at some point.

Halo CE: When you walk out of the Warthog and see the glorious Halo landscape
Halo 4: When you land on Requiem and walk out of the cave

Both games are the start of a trilogy, but with a different direction and developer. Also released at a different time.

There’s a bunch of similarities:
Only Covenant enemies in both games are Elites, Jackals, Grunts, and Hunters.
First levels have you start out in a UNSC ship that is closing in on a Forerunner structure.
Second levels have you crash land on the Forerunner structure and emerge to find a sweeping vista.
Third levels have you infiltrate enemy territory in order to get something that is vital to you getting OFF the Forerunner structure.
A bunch more…

There’s quite a fair amount of similarities between the two games, which include:

  • No duel-wielding.
  • A small Covenant composed solely of Elites, Grunts, Jackals, and Hunters.
  • The story is told from the Master Chief’s perspective alone.
  • This is the first installment within a new trilogy of games.
  • You’re marooned of an alien world, with little understanding of its purpose and history.
  • You’re having to deal with a new mysterious, deadly threat.

I won’t list them, but I did notice many similarities between Halo 4 and the past Halos, especially in level design.

Well the campaign from CE and Spartan Ops are similair in a way that you backtrack every area. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe a few things in the dialogue, but gameplay wise, Halo: Reach is a lot similair to Halo: CE.

Fall damage.

Please 343i, never again. The off switch is right there…

Just The Warthog driving and shape.

There’s a lot of points that hark back to older Halo games.

It’s just there’s too many of them. I’d rather go back and play those originals in all their glory then relive them in a more limited game.
