Combat Evolved 2.0 Playlist

This is an idea for a playlist for Halo 5: Guardians. Going to try and be as succinct & realistic as possible with this post.

Name: Combat Evolved 2.0
Release: January 2016 (unranked); February 2016 (ranked)
Size: 2-8 players
Starting Weapons:

  • (1) Chief’s Assault Rifle - Legendary weapon, 60 round magazine, same TTK as CE- (2) Keyes’ M6D Magnum - Legendary weapon, traditional 2x zoom, same TTK as CEOn-map Pick Ups: Sniper, Shotgun, SPNKr Rocket Launcher (legendary weapon), Overshield, Camo
–no weapons added in Halo 2 or later would feature in this playlist (no BR, sword, SMG, Promethean weapons, etc)

Modifiers: sprint, clamber, dash, hover, ground pound, slide, charge, Smart Scope, Spartan chatter, announcer call outs - DISABLED

Maps: this is will be a 90% community driven process:

  • October 2015 - Waypoint poll where fans select their 3 favorite CE maps - November & December 2015 - community members use Halo 5 Forge to recreate (1 to 1 scale, as close to source as possible, no additions like triggering a waterfall on Battle Creek) and submit the winning maps to 343; 343 decides which versions are the best to use in the playlist; to provide an incentive, the winning map creators receive the Halo 5 Season Pass DLC - January 2016 - playlist rolls out unranked- February 2016 - ranks addedDisclaimer: 343i can include in their description for this playlist that this is a community playlist, presented “as is,” with no official support from 343i.

Any thoughts? Personally I like Halo 5. I don’t mind Smart Scope or the other changes and I realize that you can’t release a reskin of a 14 year old game and call it Halo 5. But I’d like to think this playlist would be something of a fan service to those who loved CE (myself included) and want to play a new version w/ updated graphics, reliable matchmaking, and dedicated server support, all of which are still mostly missing in MCC.

A good and fun idea although personally, I don’t like CE’s mutiplayer combat as much haha. That dam pistol doe.

More playlists that are diverse enough is always a good thing.

I loved the H5 Beta and I would almost certainly play this, though I think a base movement speed increase would be necessary for the legitimate H1 feel.

If it is community driven, and unsupported by 343, why/how would ranks be implemented? It seems interesting in theory, but commands a huge following to be successful. I think Halo 2 or 3 would have better luck getting this treatment than CE (coming from a CE player from way back I’m 2002)
