Colossus Design

I think the concept of the Colossus is epic. A big screw you mech that goes toe to toe with a Scorpion and a Wraith tank is always going to get my vote. However I feel the design of the Colossus doesn’t live up to that philosophy. For a start it’s feet are tiny and it’s legs look like two cocktail sticks. Then to counter this it has two massive and ungainly weapons on one arm and what appears to be a shield on the other. Despite the fact it can’t be moved at all so that’s a lit of good. I’m not against the Colossus being in the game far from it I just think it could of been designed better and to look more bad -Yoink-.
So here’s some links of what I feel it should look similar to and be inspired by. Please share your views.

Colossus

Mad Cat

Juggernaut

Combat mech

Very nice, I like the juggernaut picture. The colossus certainly stands out on the battlefield, towering over marines and grunt squads where you can get a sense of its massive scale, which is very awesome to see. I think the Colossus’ right “shield” is the counter weight to compensate for the huge rail gun’s weight. It would be nice to see the stomp ability have more oomph too. Like leave a noticeable crater.

The Juggernaut is a massive siege mech from C&C Tiberian wars. My personal favourite is the Madcat from Mechwarrior 3. It’s a very old game so that’s why it lacks much detail. That mech though is armed with two 50cal. machine guns, two light lasers, two heavy lasers and those rocket pods. Also it can crush a tank with ease.

Just need a Shipmaster to teleport them far away or takke a level 3 Beam

Metal…Gear?

No walkers should ever be more resilient or better gunned than a rover of similar size, less we’re into anime logic territory.

Seeing as how people in Halo can survive falls from space, I would say walkers beating tanks is the least of our problems.

imagine using it in halo 6!!!

Colossus reminds me of Wilhelm out of Borderlands 2 and Saturn.

I still believe it should look less like a 90s transformer and more like an actual battle mech.

Strange, of all the people in Halo universe that I can remember who have survived falling from space, they’re either wearing a jet pack or in a drop pod. (S117 only felt 2 miles and it almost killed him if it wasn’t for the incredibly expensive armor)

There are only three that have survived that I know of Randal, John, and Six.

Chief had a piece of metal, too, but even with the armor and the metal it shouldn’t have saved him. Part of his famous luck being 49/10

Randal fell in an ocean, meaning he should have broken every bone in his body and then drowned. That is assuming that the planet he fell on was similar enough to Earth’s gravity, which it likely was seeing as how it was inhabited

Six had a thing similar to a jet pack, but it was not a jet pack. It was more designed for changing course in space if something were to have happened. He still could have used it to break his fall a bit [probably did, just assume yes], but there is just no way the fuel would’ve been enough to break the fall enough for just a broken arm.

This is all irrelevant though. To get it back on track, think of the Prototype suit. Didn’t it kill a Wraith, two Banshees, a ton of infantry, and a nuclear reactor that blew up when you used the code word?

It looks very similar to the cut Starcraft 2 Warhound unit

It would be great to get lategame spartan upgrades with prototype heavy mobility suits
Maybe a leader specific call in.

Halo 6 with mechs and mobile suits? It might actually work with 343 Halo mobility mechanics.

There was a reason they didn’t use those suits with Spartans though. They’re inefficient, bulky and made the user incredibly vulnerable. The Prototype heavy suit was literally scrapped in favor of the Mk IV Mjolnir which was the earliest, unshielded Mjolnir that Spartan IIs used.

We’re now at Mk VII and Gen II which is far, far better.

But the Red Team on SoF are still using Mk IV.

Anyway this colossus needs a buff to be more useful throughout this game or it will always remain a -yoink- idea!

Beyond wishing the guns were on opposite arms, I actually really like the design.

I feel it needs a speed buff or a damage buff.

But better in the sense that they are more utilitarian or something like that, right? I mean the mech might be a better soldier/unit/vehicle than the Master Chief kind in certain scenarios.

In the sense that it’s a vehicle that anyone, including a Spartan, could use themselves. The prototype armor would likely require a Spartan to get out of their Mjolnir and into the suit, which would be sacrificing their [by far] superior Mjolnir armor.

A Colossus would be similar to a Mantis in Halo 4, but the Prototype is a cheaper, less efficient, more vulnerable and less universal Mjolnir. An augmented Spartan would likely never use such a suit, unlike Ghost who was a marine or Johnson who was only a Spartan I.
