You’ve all probably seen the color pallete by now: this. We’ve been getting this for years. Now, me, I like as much customization as I can get with my character. Which is why, rather than the older color pallette (which is probably best reserved for visor color), I suggest something like this: color, lighting/shading, and saturation. And (like in Saints Row: The Third’s car customization) the state of your armor should be customized, too. We should get standard wear (pretty much how it looks now), irrediscent (brand-new, shiny, not unlike the Covenant tech in Halo: Reach), wear and tear (old and used, like the Spartan armor in Halo: Reach), and bloodstained (standard stained with human blood, Covenant-species blood, or both).
Deeper personalization means you can feel closer to your Spartan, which I support.
I’m fine with the color system right now. I feel if you go to much into it, then people wouldn’t care to do it. I know I wouldn’t customize if there was so much.

May I ask why not? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think you’d think it was too much trouble.

I think it could always do wih some improvement, but I only want two colours anyway: claret and sky blue

I feel like gameplay is more important than customization. I feel like that if it takes me a long time to customize my Spartan, then I won’t care to do it. The ideas you mention with colors, I think it’s too much.

I agree with you there: gameplay is more important than character customization. But that doesn’t mean it should be removed completely. Being able to personalize your character makes it easier to relate with him/her. Like in Reach, your Spartan is meant to be you.

Noted, but I don’t think I can recreate previous threads, can I?
Ah, A color wheel!!!
YES!!! I’ve wanted this for so long!
Actually, I think both the visor and armor should have the color wheel.
But, keep the color block for people who like the pre-sets better.
I, personally, wouldn’t mind whichever one was in the game at all. I’m fine with what we have for the moment though, but I do agree that there’d be unique colours and we’d feel closer to our Spartans if that was implemented into the armoury.
Good idea with the surface texture-touches on MJOLNIR. As for the actual colour pallet, I much prefer H4’s rich and vibrant scifi over Reach’s washed-out doomed look. I say ‘washed-out’, it’s not like it’s Gears of War, but it’s definitely duller compared to previous Halos.
Totally agree with the OP!
A “continuous” spectrum for the colors is at least what a game should offer now. It allows better customization, make you more unique.
Some customization on the reflections and other features like this can be pleasant, too.

Halo: Reach’s armor had a definite wear-and-tear. As for Gears of War 3’s characters, it’s true, a lot of them had older, improvised armor, though at the same time, a lot of it looked fresh off the rack.
