Color Deficiency in Players

Greetings!

I’ve been getting back into the Halo scene with the hype of Halo Infinite’s release. I’ve noticed a few things that I have forgotten. I don’t believe that Halo 4/5 had any type of color blind settings for players. This has been a struggle for me, particularly in Halo 5, when enemy players seem to blend in with the maps. I’m aware that the vast majority of people have normal vision, but it would definitely be nice to see Halo Infinite with some type of setting that changes important colors into something that is much easier to view for color blind players. Honestly, I would take CoD’s flawed color blindness filter over certain situations in Halo 5. Perhaps there could be settings for the 4 most common color vision deficiencies: deuteranomaly, protanomaly, protanopia, deuteranopia.

Any thoughts?

In this day and age, and given Microsoft’s professed commitment to accessibility, there’s no question that colour vision deficiency should be comprehensively accommodated in Halo Infinite.

Given the many calls for this over the years, I have no idea why 343 hasn’t implemented something.

this does not replace proper ingame settings, but i tried creating a collorblindness compensation setup for reshade. i tried copying the function of enchroma glasses with the hsl and other settings. I hope this can help you ( if you play on pc).
Nexusmods: enchroma reshade
it is optimized with halo reach, which is very desaturated, but it should work on other games to. the universal “enchroma” shader tries to stay as true to non-colorblind colors as possible and only seperates the palets more.

You would think that both the games AND the console itself would have options for various colour over rides.

At the very least we should be able to set teams to whatever colours we find the most comfortable. If I want the enemy teams to always be yellow I should be able to set that.

I really hope they can implement something into Halo Infinite for this man. Maybe they can bring you into the studio to test it out :open_mouth:

That’s really interesting. I’m going to look into that and see how it works. I’m hoping that the developers have considered implementing color blind settings prior to launch. Ingame settings would be fantastic

100% agree with this.

Very close friend of mine has moderate/high degree of color blindness and found the color blind modes on RDR 2 very helpful for his gaming experience.

I’m pumping this post because of the recent news with Halo armor coatings.

It really should be a standard setting in the console across all platforms as you indicated. Similar to the problems deaf people are coming across while gaming. The industry is failing in these areas.

Nope!
