Colony tips?

I just played my first match with Colony, and my tactics were essentially just Goliath + Banshee rush, with a few locusts and wraiths, and spamming living barrier when I needed to retreat, it didn’t do as well as I would have liked.

What are you tips and tricks when using Colony? I am such a noob :frowning:

Living Barrier is a waste, and currently Goliaths aren’t worth their cost.

I usually build a Grunt/Ranger/Engineer army with 2-3 Locusts for a 7 minute attack. By then I have Hunter’s Brand and Engineer Swarm. Works like a charm and is a great lead in to T3 and map control.

forget about living barrier. You can put on pressure early with skitterer/chopper combo. Colony’s strength comes from his late game leader powers, especially combat repair and the spirit drop, although level 3 Hunter’s Brand is also so ridiculously good, you should make use of that too before they nerf it in this upcoming patch. It’s an army rinser.

Thanks for the advice. Do you suggest using Banshees too or not?

Banshees aren’t too bad as a supporting unit, but I just think it takes too long to get them to a critical mass in 1v1s to be your core unit.

I play 1s constantly, and it seems to be the consistent transition for banished players. (Chopper Rush > Banshees)

Interesting, every 1v1 where they try that I stomp it.

What they are saying.
Banshees are a good counter to choppers, but hunters are too. Just depends on what your opponent is following up with. The perk for banshees is that you can get them right after your engineers.
The goliath drop is decent, if you have an enemy base near death. They’ll finish it off quickly and take some fire for you.

Could be because I’m UNSC so there are less ways to stop it/counter? I’ve had some success in stopping it, but if they do a good job with choppers to get map control, I can’t really do much when the inevitable happens.

That could be it, I can usually prevent crazy map control with the Choppers to help me later

Push hero w healers And air

First if it’s a 1v1 you could invest into Goliath but don’t spam them just use it as a bluff play but remember to always scout

you could use them to pick mini bases to screw over your opponent eco or screw over there production

once they see you making Goliath they will go for either snipers or scout units because those units beat units that come out of the barracks. Again I will stress how important scouting is if they are going snipers go for the chopper skit play also get the upgrade or if the go scouts spam grunts and get the upgrade because Grunt mines are good against scouts. But I would go with chopper skit mostly

also really important to buy mini bases to out produce and out eco your opponent if you want I suggest you steal their mini bases. But mini bases are what is going to win you games if your going it right

next get another scout on when they end up losing their army you always need to know what they are doing when you find out by the tech 2 choice counter them first then make your core units and or building killers once you know their army can’t reach you while also putting skits on your units you should also be controlling the map getting bases stopping their expansions getting power nodes ect meanwhile not giving your enemy space to get out

also it is good to get hunter captain out ASAP he is low key overpowered. you name me 1 unit once fully upgraded can beat a scarb he also nerfs armor and damage when fully upgraded with skits plus he has teleport now

but I can’t stress how important scouting is you always need to know what going on around the map
