Colonial Wars

There should be a game about the colonial wars that lead up to the UNSC-Covenant war. Almost like Halo Wars but a first person shooter. We need to get the other exciting part of the halo storyline on the market and experienced so the halo fans of the world can have fun trying out the origins to the amazing halo storyline!!!

I actually talked to Grim briefly at Outpost Discovery in Houston about pre-Covenant War lore. He mentioned that the team at 343 wants to release an in-universe book called “A Soldiers Tale: Rainforest Wars”. That is by no means confirmation of any releases or a hint that we will be getting material like that. Just a desire of the team.

As for a game though… I feel like that would just look like a COD clone. Halo games are amazing human vs alien shooters. Human vs human just doesn’t seem all that interesting imo.

I personally am not a big fan of a full human vs human game, but at minimum, I’d accept a mix. It’d be cool to be in those battles that we see footage of in Halo: Forward Unto Dawn, where we actually team up with the Innies as the Covenant is the bigger threat, which it was.

It’s impressive how secretive the Covenant Invasion was for the three decades it lasted. I mean, it only really blew out into open for everyone to know in 2552, as that’s when humanity was really on the edge of extinction.

That’s straight up wrong. All of Humanity knew about the Covenant by the time of Cole’s Harvest campaign. Even ONI can’t bluff through the fact that hundreds of colonies have gone silent. Besides, it would be extremely stupid not to prepare your population against the greatest genocide in your species’ history.

All I want is what I’ve wanted since Fall of Reach, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx and Contact Harvest were released: The Insurrection. I want to fight a gritty police action war against the Insurrection and see it from multiple perspectives, Insurrectionist, UNSC trooper/ODST and Spartan.

But that will never happen.

ONI certainly tried lol. But you’re right. There’s only so many times you can claim comms blackouts before people start piecing it together. And eventually the benefits of a prepared populace outweigh the risks of mass panic.

I agree with all of the above comments. I am not talking about human vs human…I prefer for there to be a mix, like a brief level of human vs human to set the stage but then follow it up with all out war between human vs human vs covenant. Let’s mix it up and make it interesting.

I was meaning for the civilian populations. There were many who really had no idea. As for military personnel, they were all gradually made aware. I’d say around 2530 most military personnel knew.

True! I want to play a game based on the amazing halo novels!

Sigh
Why do you insist on spreading blatant lies? I repeat, ALL of humanity knew about the Covenant after Cole’s victory at Harvest. The ONI propaganda machine made sure of that as shown from multiple canon sources that feature Cole. They did try to pin the blame on Insurrectionists at first, but quickly dropped that idea because of how unfeasible it was.

This is correct. Humanity knew about the Covenant for a long time, pretty much from the start. Most people in the Inner Colonies just didn’t know how /badly/ the war was going until several major colonies began to fall, and definitely after Reach. But you can clearly see and hear in ODST that, when the Covenant showed up at Earth, a lot of people had no idea what they were looking at or that the Covenant had managed to penetrate that far into Earth’s territory.

They knew ABOUT the war, they were just highly misled and lied to about the severity of it.

To add on to that, most civilians hadn’t even seen a Covenant member in the flesh until it was too late to escape (ie. planetary invasion had begun). Nowhere is this more clear than in the Battle Born series of novels, where the main cast of civilians treated the war as some distant, vague event that they barely noticed on a day to day basis. That is until of course, the planetary invasion begins.

Just give us missions against human rebels along with anti-covenant missions.
Like the early days of the HCW where humanity hadn’t all rallied together yet and some were still in revolt. Then have a mission after that where you fight covenant on an already invaded planet. Really capture the state of chaos the UNSC was in in trying to deal with both threats by yeeting the player all over the galaxy.
