Collection of All Facts from RTX [7/12/12]

Hello all. Just in case you missed RTX, I have all of the info, pictures, and videos that were taken. Here are all the facts:

Videos

Forge

  • Multiple Forge environments confirmed. One of three Forge environments shown, 3 Forge Worlds. These will ship with the game.

  • The Forge map featured in the demo was called “The Ravine”

  • Object selection is improved, objects selected are highlighted and display object name.

  • Duplicate button confirmed. Select an object and duplicate it with the touch of a button.

  • Lock/unlock button confirmed. Prevents accidentally pick an object up that you don’t want moved.

  • Magnet button confirmed. Used to snap objects onto others for a clean map

  • Trait Zones confirmed. These are base traits for an area that you can create such as: When you step into an area of the map you can adjust player speed, gravity, jump height, shields, health, invisibility, invulnerability, inability to board a vehicle, etc. Looks similar to how you construct Kill boundries.

  • Gravity Volumes confirmed. Has a purple color and looks similar to the Trait Zones and Kill boundaries. While in it you can make anything inside of it (players, whicles, crates, etc.) lift up, be pulled down, or be pulled to either side. Perimeter of it can be spotted while in player form.

  • In the demo of forge we saw had a $1 million budget

  • There will be NO time and day settings

  • There will be NO undo/redo button

  • New lighting system that has secret name.

  • Forge objects will cast shadows

  • Shadows are cast on Forge objects

  • When you switch from moniter mode to player mode there is a split second delay where the game generates the new lighting system. If multiple people are forging and one of the players switches between moniter and player mode, everyone’s screen has a delay where the lighting effects are rendered.

  • Three different Forge Palettes confirmed

Multiplayer

Armor Abilities

  • Can crouch while using the Hardlight Shield

  • Hardlight Shield VS Ghost…Ghost wins. Vehicles can splatter through a Hardlight Shield.

Weapons

  • Shotgun confirmed with a new look

  • Rockets had no splash damage in the RTX build.

  • Sword is nerfed. Takes longer to pull out and swing.

  • Weapon sounds are compressed online and are not representative of the actual weapon sounds.

Vehicles

  • Banshee has the model of the Halo Reach Banshee. Evade is nerfed to Halo 3’s speed.

  • The Warthog’s turret overheat bar wraps around the outside of the reticle.

  • When the Warthog is rammed, the tanks on the back fall off.

  • Mongoose appears to be the same model of the Mongoose in Halo Reach.

Campaign

  • Cortana not confirmed to actually go into rampancy

  • Interweaving novels into the story confirmed

  • Whatever happened to Halsey and the Spartans that are with her will not be referenced or make an appearance in Halo 4. They will however be significant at some point and time in the rest of new trilogy (Halo 5 & 6).

Production

  • Certain Affinity have been making H4’s Forge mode and all of its components.

  • Certain Affinity will be returning to create maps for Halo 4

  • All of the features are still in development. There are lots of placeholder elements, UI, etc. that are currently being borrowed from Reach.

  • New voice actors for Spartan Ops confirmed.

  • Eight weeks till Halo 4 goes gold. Confirmed by Frankie. Skip to 3:47:49

Events

  • 343i’s version of Hump day will return.

  • More Spartan Ops will be revealed next week at the San Diego Comic-Con.

The new gametype “Regicide” really bugged me because we can make similar gametypes in Reach right now.

I am excited beyond the capacity for rational thought.

Forge looks unbelievable, and thanks for making the useful thread!

I love me some hard throbbing facts.

Can’t wait to see what else we can do with forge. Here’s hoping for some object textures.

Anyway, I’m SUPER happy that we have three different forge environments with three different pallets. It’s good that they aren’t doing the same thing as Reach with one forge pallet and grey objects. I’m so happy. :smiley:

Very good thread, thank you very much for compiling all this information. I truly am excited for forge. The Ravine (The official name? for the new forge map) I can’t wait to see the other 3 maps. It also sounds like on the map we have seen today it sounds like there is a constant wind blowing… (I rewatching the video now!)

Forge looks incredible!

The only thing I’m bummed about though is that the map shown contained kill boundaries.

Hopefully, these are just able to be placed while Forging, and not be default as a map standard. I’d rather just return to the Halo 3 style of map barriers.

I want to be able to explore these maps without worrying about a ten second timer that is going to ruin the fun.

Other than that, can’t wait!!!

Man, forge and custom games are gonna be so awesome. With the additions with forge to make it more user friendly, it will undoubtedly bring new forgers into the mix which means more creations to download and also means more custom games being played.

Customs are gonna be a lot more fun to play now with these new additions and also with the different environments for the forge palette so customs will not be so boring anymore seeing the same grey pieces all the time.

Can’t wait for this game!!!

Err, the list of 10 don’t contain the forge environments actually. So 7 unrevealed maps.
2 unrevealed forge spaces.

I wouldn’t think the Forge Maps will count as maps in MM.
Though its quite possible that there will be a forged map from those forge worlds in matchmaking.

Sorry if I sound stupid but whats UI?

That forge map gives me that H3 feel, and it looks awesome.

I could be wrong but, isn’t there ten multiplayer maps and then the three forge maps? That’d make more sense. If they only had seven maps for the whole of Matchmaking, that’d be pretty poor, to be honest.
