Recently, I watched Halo Canon’s video discussing the new comic series “Collateral Damage” that will be released later this June. While I am genuinely excited that we will get to see more of Blue Team, I will say that Halo Canon did bring up an excellent point: Blue Team is wearing the Gen 2 mjolnir instead of the Gen 1 mk. IV that they should be wearing at the time the series is supposed to take place. I can understand why there is a need to make the members of Blue Team be more recognizable to the newer fans by having them wear their different style of armor, but a little consistency would be appreciated, especially considering that the team could always have their designation numbers on the chest plate of their armor as we have seen before. That being said, this small gripe won’t stop me from reading this comic, and I will still appreciate the work that the artists provide. How does everyone else feel about this comic?
The practical approach 343 is taking to the canon of Halo universe’s visuals really grinds my gears.
Initial impression is it’ll be the same generic Forerunner artifact hunt that a significant chunk of side story content seems to be so I’ll reserve judgement to see if they can pull something interesting with this one. Regarding the Mjolnir. I guess this is 343 once again attempting to retroactively imply their ugly armor design has been what the main line armor really looked like the entire time.

I have to agree with you on that one. I didn’t mind what they did with Halo 2 Anniversary or Halo Wars 2 though. I just hope they bring in more of the old art style in the future.

Now that you mention it, that is what a lot of the media seems to be focused on. It’s just crazy how they can’t stick with the old armor design, it looks so much better in my opinion.

So what they’ve always been doing despite the numerous indications that there were no variations in the armor until at least late MK IV.

While it may be a small complaint, it is just plain laziness to not have them in the original, Canonically correct, armor. They could explain why the armor looked different, put their service numbers, etc. anything to keep it Canonically accurate. It won’t keep me from reading it; just disappointing.

I completely agree
