What we need in Halo is a universal set of settings. The game needs to be 100% balanced on all playlists. I think having the competitive players in your corner really bring people to your game. I am by no means a competitive player, I’m a casual that likes to win so I am a team player. Bring back all the pertinent RANKED playlists such as Team, FFA, Objective, Big Team and maybe Doubles. Of course to further keep things civil there would be an MLG playlist for those that want the most challenging experience.
Then for those of us that want the casual play we have social playlists akin to those available in the ranked section. Halo:Reach got bogged down with social playlist after social playlist. I of course don’t know the ins and outs of providing playlists and what goes into monitoring them.
For sure though there seems to be an ever widening rift between the players that play the game most, competitive players, and casual players. Leveling the playing field will start to close the rift. I wholeheartedly believe that unifying the settings will only go well for the Halo franchise.
There should be only 2 play list. Social and the only ranked gametype is MLG. I believe since MLG is the OFFICAL competitive gathering for Halo’s most hardcore and competitive players, that it should be competitive standard. We don’t need Ranked team slayer or doubles. Just MLG. It has way more to offer than just one gametyps. They have slayer, KOTH, and CTF. All the things you need for a competitve playlist. Playing just slayer or doubles is no way of ranking up IMO. You must be good across the board of gametypes to earn a really good ranks. It will make players play smart.
Well we casuals like to test our metal once in while and jumping into the inferno of MLG is often a bit too much of a test. Having a 3 tiered system gives everyone what they want.

So you think that the competitive player only plays MLG? your wrong.

If we had ranked lists filled with casual players, imagine how it would be like for people who play more often. Nothing spoils MM more than a bad team of randoms. That’s not a critisim, it’s an observation. People who play the game more often tend to be better and would rather play with people near their skill level. Unfortunately, Reach’s “Player Skill” isn’t what it should be.
FYI, I think you meant “test your mettle”.
mlg is kind of a joke. talk about a dice roll, spamming does not punish anything in 4shot reach.
default reach can be annoying with kill times.
what we need is arena ranked (85% bloom settings):
FFA
Team Slayer
BTB
Snipers
Swat
Objective
Social (100% bloom settings):
Doubles
invasion
squad slayer
action sack
social btb
community slayer
double xp/weekend:
grifball
living dead
ff vs.

4shot reach? MLG is 5 shot still.

Of course you would think it’s a joke. Sorry. Esports are getting huge and $250,000 is no joke. I honestly can not understand the blind hatred for the Halo communities football league, if you will. If they’re only going to keep one ranked playlist, it should be MLG. It makes the most sense. 85% bloom? Lol Don’t make me laugh. So more bad kids can spam and have the bloom aim for them without the worry of requiring the skill to aim by themselves?

Why would competitve players play anything else? Everything else in Halo is a joke. In Halo 3 all the ranked playlist had nooby equpment in them. That’s not competitive, and it is still casual as ever. Sorry, I actually like using my gun and not a button that rewards bad playing by just a press of it. Aka Bubble shield, shield regen and Armor lock. Nor do I want people to just camp in a corner ( LIKE ALL OF REACHES BAD MAPS FOR COMPETIVE PLAY THAT DO NOT ENCOURAGE MAP MOVENT.)to just toss this stupid blue ball that takes down my shileds and gives him a free kill. Skill free Halo is not competitive.
Yea, just look at SC2, its a national sport and Restraunts (in US) are now hosting SC2 “barcrafts”. Its ridiculous how popular it is.
In my opinion we need 3 ranked playlists (4V4, 2V2 and FFA) becasue although MLG is the most competitive there is more to Halo then just 4V4.
Basically it would end up like this:
Ranked:
MLG
MLG Doubles
MLG FFA
Social:
Rumble Pit
Living Dead
Team Slayer
Team Objective
Team Snipers
Team Swat
Big Team Battle
> Nor do I want people to just camp in a corner
Oh, like I’ve seen most MLG players do throughout every single -Yoinking!- Halo game to DATE*?!
What?
real major league gamers dont camp. They are busy stopping the other team taking control of power positions.

I honestly would LOVE THIS! Honestly, you could take MLG out of the name and use the gamestypes. People who cry that MLG is too hard would never tell the difference. Just the effin “MLG” in there that makes people think it is somehow different than Halo. So dumb.
> Yea, just look at SC2, its a national sport and Restraunts (in US) are now hosting SC2 “barcrafts”. Its ridiculous how popular it is.
Yeah Im trying to do something similar. I want to open up my own bar and keep an entire section for just Halo games when the pro circuit weekend is going on have a big huge tv just for the event and little tv’s at the bar and stuff like that. A dream for a while now. One day though. You all should come have a few beers and enjoy some good ol Halo.

You forgot 16 player free for all.

Yayyyy fresh meat!
> > First off, you have presented so much compelling evidence that you have achieved an accurate conclusion to MLG. Congratulat…oh…wait. I lied. No you didn’t. As a person who enjoys playing, and being a religiously involved individual in the MLG community, I can accurately say that your statement is false. Why is it false you may ask? There is no way to camp with the MLG gametypes because of the maps forged, and chosen from the disk. Without the overuse of unnecessary power weapons, that are not in anyway competitive, it takes away the desire to sit in one spot.
> > The definition of, camping.
> > Camping:
> > (Camping is when a player stays in the same spot throughout the game to gain an unfair advantage against his or her opposition.
> > Players camp for various reasons. They don’t want to take any risk of losing so they hover or camp around a weapon respawn or powerup respawn area so they can always have the advantage. Sometimes players camp because they suck at the game and the only way they can score points or kills is by camping out around corners or in hiding places to attack their opponents by surprise or from behind as they pass by.)
> > You may be asking yourself why I have given you the definition. Because the definition of camping does not apply to the playstyle required to being a fluent and successful player in the MLG playlist.
> > In order to be a camper you must have an advantage and the problem is there is no real advantage!
> > MLG’s maps, whether forged or on disk, have one thing in common that most default settings and maps do not have. You are forced to keep moving. Map moment is encouraged by their design, and the fact that you have the same guns keeps people from camping anyway because without a shotgun and camo you must be on the move before you are called out.
> > But I know exactly what you are thinking.
> > " OH YEAH, WELL…YOU STILL CAN PICK UP CAMO, AND CAMP WITH ROCKETS!"
> > There is a huge difference between fighting and earning the spoils of war, than getting them off spawn. But after first spawn, you can not just stand there for 3 minuets and wait on the respawn. The maps are made so you can not do this.
> > Once again, do not spew blind hatred just for the sake of it.
343i’s confirmed that they’re working with MLG for Reach, and I’m sure they’ll collaborate with them for future Halo titles. I agree that the MLG playlist should be ranked, seeing that it’s the most competitive, however one has to understand that the MLG playlist, as well as it’s settings, only cater to a small amount of Halo players. Even in the Halo 3 days, MLG still wasn’t the most popular ranked list.
MLG has a devote fanbase (which includes myself), however 343i shouldn’t drop everything they’re doing and cater to the small MLG audience. They should make a balanced playlist, and then hand MLG the tools to oversee and manipulate the playlist to their likings.
no I have Metal thumbs… sooo you’re wrong.

I just want a standard set of universal settings. I think there could be some middle ground both sides could agree upon.
UNIFY PLAYER SETTINGS!
