Coil jumping gone?

Good morning gentlemen. With the recent season 2 update came a certain amount of well needed patches and some questionable. I’ve read in the recent devlogs that coil jumping have been patched for campaign, does it mean that was completely removed for the multiplayer as well?

Standing on top of a Fusion Coil then grappling it now results in the player picking up the Fusion Coil.

In the the patch notes there is mention of the player staying on top of the fusion coil, does it still work if the player jump without touching the coil or is it completely gone? As my internet is pretty slow re-installing the game just to test it out would take days, is anyone able to provide an insight on the glitch status?

The trick was pretty hard to come with in the first place, it was a lot of fun and it did not hurt anyone or make the game uneven. I don’t see why it needed to be patched in the first place, especially for the campaign

Shame for it to be patched. Was pretty cool trick.

Same with the tank gun “Easter egg”. Don’t know why they felt the need to patch mistakes the community came to enjoy. Once it’s there maybe just leave it?

Only patch if it breaks people’s game unintentionally I say.

100%, the tank gun was very fun and the glitch was found only the day after the game came out in December. If they had patched it by then i would understand, but the game have been out since half a year already!

Tank gun being patched already sucked, if the campaign coil jumping has also been patched out unnecessarily from campaign then the speedrunning community is dead in the water, period.

Let’s be honest here, 343i are the fun police. They don’t want you to have fun with the campaign, they want it to be just like multiplayer AKA a sweat-fest.

The game was not designed to be fun, it was designed to revolve around esports and the shop.
The campaign itself is overpriced, previous titles were the same price but you had a solid campaign, multiplayer, game progression, coop, forge and even firefight!

Guess that’s the standard nowadays, gain as much money as possible with minimal content. Just barely enough to be legal : (

I could see a potential issue with the Scorpion Gun if Campaign scoring ever gets added. A simple solution though, would just be to add it back in with a non-scoring skull. Fingers crossed :crossed_fingers:

Wow couldn’t have said it better

I’m super bummed about this, my friend pulled me into a custom game just to show off how he figured out how to do it and now his fun trick doesn’t work anymore. I don’t know if it’s completely gone but it sounded like it is. It was funny as hell :frowning: why would they take that out???

Looks like they’ve acknowledged the feedback on this:

From the Tweet:
We’ve seen the feedback around changes that impacted various multiplayer jumps and campaign speedrun strategies. We’re not at the point where we can promise anything yet, but want to be transparent and say that we’re taking the feedback seriously and reviewing options internally.

From what I know, the tank gun was patched as it was causing issues in co-op, maybe coil jumping was causing issues with a later build than we are playing.

Coil jumping issues in coop is understandable as it may teleport your teammates randomly into oblivion, but the fact that it was completely removed from single player and multiplayer, as well as some other player movements is suspicious.

343i did remove previously fun and harmless features from the titles to better adhere to their vision of how a shooter should operate (e.g. ghost loosing their hover ability, grenade jumping no longer existent, recent removal of skill slide, etc.). Its not too far fetch to believe this was done intentionally with no actual conflict with the current version

In general game developers should actually add things like these glitches, it just adds fun

As long as it’s harmless they shouldn’t matter unless it’s causing issues. But yeah, sometimes it happens that harmless bugs etc get removed to better suit a game developers vision

Yes, an example of that would be to turn the chibi spartan glitch into a gamemode with small warthogs

coil jumping I can see why they patched, I hate it but I understand why it caused a lot or problems with game flow, and you could do it by mistake killing yourself. Granted I think it should be returned via a skull for speed runners but I can understand why it was removed.

As for the tank gun, they had better bring it back as a skull or add a weapon that functions similarly like a 90mm recoiless rifle or something.

If the community make itself vocal enough it will probably come back as a spiritual successor to the scarab gun

Joseph Staten did actually respond saying…

“Hey Spartans, this week has been bumpy. That definitely wasn’t our goal. We are indeed taking your feedback to heart, especially regarding map jumps and speed running. We’re reviewing options and will have more news to come”

So 343 are listening, so it’s a possibility coil jump may return, unless it causes game breaking issues, or issues with co-op I guess

oh Spare me the -Yoink!- Drivel 343i…

If you were taking the feedback seriously and reviewing options you wouldve never have removed them because feedback was clear the community wanted you to keep these things in because they are fun and contribute to the game despite its dire state.

You are Out Of Touch with youre community and it shows.
