Now that the Covenant threat is more or less over, the UNSC is in an interesting position. They are in desperate need of trained military personnel and it has been shown that they are very interested in the "disappearance"of Admiral Preston Cole. My question to all of you is whether or not humanity’s first hero in the Human-Covenant war should return? I personally thought that his supposed demise was intentionally left open for a return possibly. I could easily see him return to replace a high ranking Naval officer (Whitcomb?) or even end up captaining the Infinity if something happens to Del Rio…who knows.
After reading, “The Impossible Life and Possible Deat of Preston J. Cole” in Halo: Evolutions it was interesting to think that Cole could make a return. However, if he does return then it would most likely be with the women in the story (I forgot her name) along with whatever ships she had left. I don’t think Cole would replace Del Rio on the Infinity but he may be given a job inside of ONI.
They could actually become a major faction in the future. These Insurrectionists ended up fleeing the UNSC and were organized enough to have actually constructed newly designed, never seen before Starships. Cole served the UNSC though and only left to be with his wife. Perhaps they wouldn’t be aggressors and would actually be willing to work with the UNSC post Human-Covenant War?
