Code: 0x80073CF0; cannot download Halo 5: Forge

Not Able To Download this game. I got in contact with Microsoft, and the guy said its the development team is having trouble, so its on their side, not me. This code 0x80073CF0 its the development team side. Has anyone else been having this? HELP I WANT TO PLAY THIS ON MY PC! Oh I meet the specs too!

That error I’m sure is to do with the Windows Store and Windows / App updates. Couple things you can try and see if it helps:

  • Press start and type wsreset into the start search box at the bottom, right click on the icon in results and click ‘Run as administrator’. After it tells you the store cache has been cleared, try downloading it againIf that doesn’t help, maybe give this a try:

  • Open Control Panel - Open ‘Troubleshooting’ - Select 'fix problems with Windows updates’Let it do what ever it does, restart your machine (even if it doesn’t say to do so, I generally do it anyway) and try downloading again

Hm, ok. I did some more searching and I did come across these support pages which I think is what your MS rep was talking about (hadn’t come across these earlier), but there’s nothing really helpful:

There was one step I left out my last post - you need to reset Windows Update component. Only reason I was hesitant to post is because it’s not a guaranteed fix, so if you want to follow this please do make sure to have a back up of your system ready in case anything goes wrong. I would set up a system restore point if you don’t have one set already.

You want to go to your start menu, type cmd and when the icon shows right click it and select ‘Run as Administrator’. Accept the UAC prompt that show up and then type each line below, pressing enter after each one.

  • net stop wuauserv - cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution - ren Download Download.old - net start wuauservIf for any reason the update service won’t stop or won’t restart, you’ll likely have to reach out to MS support again and see if they can help. Let me know how you get on :slight_smile:
