Call of Duty: Black Ops II has sold 6.2 million copies in a week on Xbox 360 alone, while the PS3 it sold 4.6 million. This combined together in just a week, is 10.8 million copies. Thats right in a week.
Halo 4 in it’s 2nd week has only sold 800,000 copies and it’s total sales are at 4.5 million. Halo 4 preorders were good, even surpassing COD at one point but it’s sales record is nothing in comparison. I can’t help but think not supporting skilled ranks is a big reason why fans are NOT spreading Halo 4 multiplayer word of mouth as the best game this year.
If there is any consolation for 343, COD has seen a small decline of sales but 3 million less copies sold a year when their market share is 4x bigger is nothing.
Lesson: Bring Back Skilled Ranks, even I am thinking of jumping ships if we do not get full support soon. Also allow multiple players to be in the same lobby in theatre mode. Also improve Forge so big maps can be made. Most importantly, listen to the community or Halo 5 will not see an incline in sales.
> > That won’t bring an incline in sales, and skill ranks are already coming. Also the community wants five billion different things at once.
>
> Are they in-game though or Waypoint only? There’s a huge difference.
How exactly? The only change is where you view them.
> > Skill ranks are Waypoint only. Just like Reach. They won’t do anything for the game.
>
> Okay, now instead of everyone just saying that let’s move to why.
The same reason they did nothing in Reach. It is a generally accepted rule that is a feature of a game needs additional software or hardware it will be a significantly lesser used function.

why the hell would any one want to have to go to waypoint after every game to see there rank if u are with a party you have to leave every one and regroupe just so you could see your rank when u could be playing another game …
it is so simple give us a SOCIAL PLAY LIST WHERE U GAIN EXP AND GIVE US A RANKED playlist VISIBLE 1-50 OR 1-60 70 80 WHAT EVER RANKING SYSTEM and have a classic halo game type with normal spawn times and spawn locations descoping and weapons on the map to play for and so you can play to get map control not just camp and wait for the weapons to come
and have pre set pick ups for oversheild camo and i would not be so against having a jet pack in there as well if it was on the map and not every player could have it u want it fight for it it brings so much more skill back into the game controling the map power ups and weapons and the spawns
this would make halo competitive again every one would start to come back to h4 FACT
Halo players all think they are game developers and businessmen nowadays. Believe it or not Microsoft is a big company, obviously they know what they are doing, if they didn’t think 343i couldn’t do the job they wouldn’t have asked them.

if u had of played halo 2 / 3 you would not be saying this

Ummm, camping and waiting for weapons to come is pretty much map control. You pretty much just said make Halo exactly like the old ones and everyone would come back. What about the people who stopped playing those games? You really would check your rank every game? Jeez.
And before you say it, yes I’ve played Halo 2 and 3.

COD in its first day of release made 550mil halo4 in its first day of release made 220mil. thats almost half of what cod made and halo 4 is on one console, i feel like you have some inaccurate information.
Halo 4 needs the skill system similar which was used in Halo 3, that skill system was the best. Reach was a joke. You could just farm exp in firefight. It was ridiculous. We need HALO 3 SYSTEM BACK!!
and to anyone who says COD: BO2 is better than Halo 4. Leave… leave now, hertic.

not at all that is not map control in the slightest when weapons spawn all over a map it creates map movement and when u ad power ups on the map instead of every player having them eg overshield camo it also creates more of map control and movement needed and TEAM WORK … communication
Funny how people always try to use Halo 4’s downfalls as a way to promote the visible rank system. Visible ranks aren’t the real issue here, the real issue is that, compared to previous Halo games, this isn’t your typical Halo experience.
What I mean by that is, with the inclusion of sprint, AA’s and loadouts, Halo has lost most of its identity as an arena MP game, and embraced COD features in the hopes to gain some fans. This is kind of failing though, because not only are they not gaining that many fans, they are losing their longtime fans because they’ve abandoned the classic Halo experience ( the idea that everyone starts evenly matched and fights for map control)
Halo is at a cross roads now, should they continue to go down the path of AA’s, loadouts and sprint or go the more classic route of Halo 2/3 style gameplay for Halo 5? I personally believe more people will be happy if they have their classic Halo experience.
Basically, what I believe a succesful Halo game needs to do is:
Stick to what works, aka do the dance that got you their, in other words, stick to Halo 2/3 style gameplay, it’s what we’ve loved before, and will love again. This includes campaign and multiplayer.
New weapons, new as in actually new weapons, not just Forerunner versions of guns we already have. Like maybe a shotgun you charge or a burst fire shotgun.
Good maps. I feel Halo 4 has no stand out maps and that is hurting it. Also, if you stick to classic Halo with no sprint, maps will be easier to make, and will be easier to make them enjoyable. Most people like small maps, creates for lots of confrontations and quick gameplay, which is what sprint was supposed to do in Halo 4, and while it may do it somewhat, small maps can also achieve this, plus you get a fun map (two birds, one stone).
Update the graphics and sound. Halo 4 actually did this well (the BR sound is my only gripe, needs to sound beefier) I love most of the new sounds and especially love the new graphics.
Ranks: Okay, I’ll throw you a bone here. While I don’t think visible ranks are hurting Halo 4 that much right now, I also see no reason to not include them. I don’t care about them, if you’re a 50 and I’m a 25, well I don’t care, we’ll just see if you’re really that good. Halo should from now on always ship with both progression and competitive ranking systems. It’s the best of both worlds while hurting neither.
Moar customization. Halo 4 also does this pretty well in some spots, not so well in others (Custom games). The Halo community loves their customizations and should get more and more with each game, Halo 4 seems to be a step back in that regard as of now.
Options: There would be no issue right now if there were more options. If we like the new Halo experience (as I mostly do) let us play the new Halo experience. However, those who long for the old experience, but like their new graphics and sound, they don’t have much right now. The game would be a lot more populated if when I went into War Games I had the option of new Halo or old style Halo, I would probably play equal amounts of both.
I don’t know, these are just my rambling thoughts. I mostly like Halo 4, but it could be so much better in my opinion. In parts it excels, in others it falls short. Maybe I have really high standards? Or low standards? I don’t know, I’ve been up since 3AM and had to work at 4AM, I am tired (damn you Black Friday!)

Is that why Apple has the competitive advantage in the consumer market? As I recall, Halo players do fall under the consumer market as well.
