COD now has space battle(s), why cant Halo?

Yeah, just looked at the new COD infinite warfare trailer and I gotta say that space battle scene looked sick and reminded me of reach’s space battle which was a pretty cool level. I don’t know or think it’ll be a game mode since it is a COD game but if they did make it a game mode it will probably would draw in a new group of people who enjoy Sci-fi and space battles which I think would go well with Halo 6. It seems like it would be a challenge to do but it is definitely worth while as many(I think) fans have been asking for something like that, I’m not that good at brainstorming things but what is everyone else thoughts?

P.S. Anyone else think it’s funny how much COD, a former modern day shooter, is using similar looking vehicles and situations from Halo/Sci-fi games in general?

I just find it funny how CoD, which used to be all about WWII games, is now going into the realm of sci-fi at all. I grew up loving World at War, but the new stuff just looks off-putting to me for some reason. Probably because I was a history nut when I played the older games.

But, on-topic, I guess that it isn’t too far-fetched for Halo to have space battles. After all, we did get that one level in Reach, and we’ve been flying Banshees and Hornets for a long time. However, I also feel like it would be stretching it a bit too far, gameplay-wise, since Halo is first and foremost an FPS. So any space battles would have to be done sparingly, like in Reach.

Space battles would work out better in an RTS like Halo Wars if you ask me.

Just because Halo is an FPS doesn’t mean it can’t expand and make new game modes that aren’t technically in the genre or type of game. Look at star wars battlefront 2, it was mainly a third person shooter or FPS(cant remember) but it had a space boarding game mode which was pretty cool. As Halo is now, it is generally getting boring with warzone barely doing anything to make Halo more fun, but if they add different game modes to multiplayer like space battles, or something like invasion then it will reach new people/audiences and give halo a larger population(or at least in my opinion).

But that’s a strategy game, I’m talking about you have command of a vehicle like the one used in Halo reach, you either blow up enemies or you board enemy ships and take them out from the inside. But now that I think about it, it may be a little too hard to design a boarding space battle sequence like that or even allow the Xbox to run something that intense.

I find it funnt that cod is copying us with the space stuff and still doing better than us. Seriously does this bother anybody else?

If battlefield can handle dogfights I am sure Halo could do something similar. (343 mlg sympathizers and apologists allowing of course)

dont be mistaken a lot of people dislike cod for going into the future. myself being one of them.
if you want scifi go play a good game like halo, not like bo3.
they are trying to be scifi but still hang on to the current day. thats a big mistake.

and halo could deff feature space battles. remember that bf4 has the commander modus. well give that mode more perks like being able to actually build ships and things for the players to use. give orders let players capture points etc.

would be awesome but very hard to balance

So it’s kinda like Battlefront? Then it’s probably just as bad.

Im not saying being exactly or even remotely similar but Halo has a story and gameplay that can really make this work.

It belongs in RTS’ as stated before… That’s where space battles should be.

That space scene was atrocious, the cringe was real.

Yeah I dont agree and so far I can understand your opinion but cant take it seriously. Reasons why I believe it could work is due to Halos lore and history, having a warzone assault game were you go through a covenant ship and blow it up seems pretty fun(note Im too tired to delve deep into ways it can be done), also flying around blowing each other up in seraphs, Banshees, Sabers, or whatever other Halo space vehicles there are can be quite enjoyable based on the peoples majority positive reception to the Halo Reach space fight. I agree with the fact that space battles would go well in RTS games and have been majority ignored in FPS games but exploring new game types and making something new and cool is how you innovate a game and make it better(to many ands I know).

Yeah, I’d like some space battles.

we did have that mission in Reach and the trench run in H4 (not really a battle but still cool). It could work but I only think it should be given Half/1 mission per game. Halo is primarily and FPS after all.

I’ve dreamed about a halo styled star wars battlefront 2 for years. I doubt we’d ever get close but a halo space battle, laid out like the BF2 ones would be crazy. But then again so would all the land battles. Play as marines then special forces, your final tier ground force is an ODST and then hero is a spartan. I can only dream.

Theres a pelican in the trailer

The space battle we had in Reach worked fine.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 styled space battles in halo, my days that would be so awesome

Don’t even think about drawing comparisons between that disgusting pile of refuse Infinite Warfare and Halo.

And if you think that space battles are going to be in a COD multiplayer, you’re dead wrong. It’s an obvious campaign gimmick.
