343 says this game isn’t like COD (thank god the ordnance system is gone)
BUT, THE DEFAULT CONTROL SYSTEM IS THE SAME AS COD!!!?!?!
wtf seriously, ADS with left trigger in Halo? cmon.
I play bumper jumper, anybody who plays Halo with COD controls is a -Yoink-
Wow. There are other control schemes… No need to blow a gasket. Especially if you play bumper jumper like me. There was like, no change to the bumper jumper control scheme.

I have a very bad problem when paying games that my thumbs are ridiculously heavy on the sticks. Even with clench protection on, I can do nothing about it. I tend to use Recon, which I have for years now, so I’ll end up randomly zooming in my weapon a lot of the time. Having the option of using trigger for zoom is one of the best things given to me in games, I’d quite like for it to stay. I don’t care if it’s not default, as long as I can switch to it. I would also be happy with having to manually active zoom when descoped, I’d agree auto-scoping shouldn’t happen on that control-set in Halo. As USS Galactica said above there are other controller schemes, so just use the one that suits you.
So there being 1 control scheme being familiar for players outside the halo community to use is bad? Use literally any other h3 was the last halo I used default on.

I agree man. I am the same way I constantly zoom in otherwise in MCC when ibtry to melee I end up zooming in a good 85% of the time which sucks
In the beta I played with default and the only issue I had was using thrusters but other then that it was great

It’s not the issue of a controller scheme being familiar to fans of other games, it’s that it gives an advantage where there shouldn’t be, and it’s the default.
I’m hoping the advantage is a glitch though (Holding down the trigger will automatically scope you back in after getting shot)

if anything i think that the automatic rescope is a disadvantage. I often found it difficult to land precision shots if my view was constantly changing from standard to smartlink. In reality its a smart move to make the default control scheme similar to other shooters as it provides a familiar control scheme for new players to the franchise. It will be one less frustration in the grand scheme of the halo learning curve. Also if your referencing what we saw in killcams this was a bug with the camera itself.
I used default in the beta and it still felt like halo I didn’t event use the smart scope and i got plenty of kills. but yes I would like to see custom button layouts so everyone can be happy and stop -Yoinking!-.

The cod control scheme just works. It makes sense for the button configuration, that’s what I feel comfortable playing with. It’s the control scheme that most players are going to use/feel comfortable with since most players have proabably been playing COD for majority of the time since Halo 4’s population tanked. You have to think about it this way, theres a very tiny portion of the fanbase that uses theses forums compared to the millions who buy Halo, so the views posted on here perhaps are in the miniority of the complete fanbase.
Seriously, this isajoke. left trigger to zoom, they are obviously ripping off cod.
I’m done with halo, there’s no way 343 is going to get me to press start and change my settings. What a slap in the face to all us hard core fans.
Earth to 343, we don’t want more options. So what if 90% of fps players prefer to use the left trigger to zoom.
you have insulted me for to long, bumper jumper has always lived in the shadows of the default controls I can’t take it anymore. Giving us these unnecessary options, just makes us confused.
This problem is huge, but people just act as if it’s some kind of joke, and to them I say nay!!
If you’re with me on this, let’s sand up together and everybody say Nay

With a limited number of buttons on a controller, there are a finite number of viable configurations that work and a smaller sub-set that work well with a particular game. I would see being able to jump into another game and not instantly being lost is more a benefit than anything else

If it is kept as default, you’ll have to tap possibly 4 extra buttons to save the setting and you’ll only have to do it once then never touch it again. You have to do the same for bumper jumper do you not, so I don’t see the issue here?

Having more options of customization available is actually what quite a lot of people (that I’ve seen anyway), on the forums and other external sites, have been asking for. If they don’t appeal to you or you won’t make sure of them, don’t use them, but please don’t limit the possible creativity of others because you don’t want to see extra things in your menus

Not having your preferred controller scheme as a default is not an insult

Did some walloper above say that using LT for scoping was ripping off COD? Seriously?!? This forum is full of -Yoinking!- morons. At the end of the day, 343i is looking for all kinds of people to play Halo. The ‘COD’ control system is the most universal system out there. Almost every game uses a slight variation on it. Not to copy. But it’s something that easy to use. Everyone knows it. Everyone likes it. And if you don’t then the traditional control schemes are still there. Have you ever went back and tried playing Rainbow 6 again. -Yoink- me. That’s an awkward control system.
