Coatings should be cross core, but armor cores should not

I’m fine with the fracture cores being individual, and I’m of the same mind that all coatings should be cross-core inherently.

But if the difference between the cores is as subtly nuanced as MK V [B] and MK VII? I’m expecting those to be cross-compatible. The excuses for them not to be are far and few between.

I don’t think they should mix Rakshasa, Yoroi, or Eaglestrike with the other cores, but Mark V [B] and Mark VII in my opinion are standard enough that they could be mixed successfully. But yes, armor coating being separate is so confusing to me. I see a tiny bit of what 343 was doing, since the Mark VII core has coatings like Crimson Vettel and Obelisk Stone, and Mark V [B] has Noble Defender, Noble Intercessor, Noble Executioner, etc. that cover in-universe characters, but it’s still kind of dumb that they keep them apart overall.

I could definitely live with the decision to exclude character coatings from a cross-core coating update.

Don’t worry. At this rate neither will happen and the system will remain unchanged until Halo 7 comes out in the next 8 or so years as 343s apology piece for Halo Infinite.
