I just took a peak at the new Season 5 weapon coatings in MCC, and I gotta say, i’m very excited to see what we get in Infinite. That Trauma AR skin, the steampunk Promethean skins, it all looks so awesome.
Do you have anything you’d like to see for weapon coatings? What coating would you bring over from MCC?
From MCC? Not a lot at all.
I want to see unique designs. Considering how the coating system works with layers and textures I doubt MCC skins will come over.
I’m hoping weapon coatings will stay fairly reasonable in design. I don’t want to see another pizza assault rifle. The Infinite monster energy skins look great and I’m hoping they follow that sort of design.

Honestly, I don’t even mind things like that too much. I’d use it for a week and then never touch it again. But hey, some people don’t like taking their games semi-seriously. We shouldn’t deprive people of that. Of course, talk like that might lead to toggles in Halo: Infinite which I don’t really think we need. That’s getting off topic though. My final statement? Pizza charm go brrrrr.

Canonically speaking, weapon charms are more than likely not regulation. And, no doubt Spartans like pizza. Soooo…Pizza charm! Why not? I’m a lore freak and even I could see a Spartan 4 using something like that just for lols. They are human, after all.

Weapon charms I’m cool with, I think for weapon coatings they’re a lot more visible when playing whilst something like a charm is pretty tiny.
I do feel like some of the Skins in Halo 5 got a bit out of hand in my opinion.
I guess for me I like weapon skins being more practical looking . I don’t mind some fun ones here and there but I’d rather not see a pizza or cat camo haha

I would do weapon charms for that stuff and that’s about as far as i’d take it. Maybe emblems/nameplates too, but weapon and vehicle coatings should be more serious.

The planet destroying Hula Hoops are ok but god forbid if you paint your gun to look like a pizza I mean that’s just too far isnt it
I just hope for more military skins.
To be honest, I’m totally in hate about the pommes, pizza, purpble etc skins. It’s just childish and had no right to exist in a Universe like Halo.
I remember the time, when Halo was dark, you felt the depressing of maybe become extinct because of the covenant.
So the pommes and pizza skin in Halo 5 was the biggest disrespect to the Halo lore.
I just want the military skins and skins, that are more militaristic.

I mean, weapon skins are fundamentally casual, no real world military ( no less one facing extinction ) would bother letting you put a skin on the government owned firearm that will transfer hands a number of times so I don’t see why you draw the line here, pizza skins are fine since Halo is “hip” and “cool” now anyways, it’s been years since Halo was serious ( in tone or market-wise ) so no use in getting riled up over pizza my guy.
Halo CE was arguably the goofiest of the lot in terms of story and tone, (and that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, its campaign is one of my favourites).
The one that went hardest on the military aesthetic was Reach, and while they pulled it off very well for that game, I don’t really want to see Halo go down that avenue again. I much prefer what I’ve seen of Infinite so far with the bright green Mjolnir armour and the juicy blue elites, the whole thing feels vibrant and beautiful.

“hip” and “cool”? Well aybe thats another reason why the last two Halo’s were kinda bad lol…
Don’t understand why it should be bad going “the own way” and by saying that I mean yes, go back to the dark space with Halo.

Hey, I would support that but we both know 343 wouldn’t dare return Halo to it’s roots.

When was Halo ever dark? Have you played CE? Half the characters are wise cracking jokers that shoot their guns almost as well as they can whip up snappy one liners.
Halo 2/3 was certainly more serious in tone but the people still felt you know, alive. Halo 4 and 5 felt exactly the same. Basically every Halo game since CE has consistently held the story first but the gameplay allows you to interact and observe the sillier and more human elements of the series between combat set pieces.
The tone of Halo games has remained consistent, why does the personal preference of painting colours on a gun bother you?
Damn bro sorry I dont wear blue flames and the Pilot skull helmet when do you want me to join your l33t Halo assassination clan. What is this, 2011

Halo was never really “dark” but it was more serious. Characters can still crack jokes and be human but the story and overall tone was significantly more serious in Bungie’s games. CE set you on a path to prevent a genocide of the galaxy then stop a galaxy consuming parasite, Halo 2 had you defending Earth and engaging in a hail mary to shatter the Covenant and Halo 3 had you finish the fight by cutting the head of the beast as it faltered. Comparably 4 and 5 had less serious tones and overreaching narratives ( Halo 4 was serious, but it was very self-contained between the Chief and Cortana with the Didact only making a very small appearance at the end really )

I just really dont. A splash of colour wont kill you. And its the most asinine complaint I’ve ever heard.
Complain about game balance or something actually helpful. We have heard since 2012 worthless moaning about the art style that 343 has obviously also heard otherwise the Infinite trailer wouldnt be literally fanservice -Yoink!-

It’s the tone of the game, coating change the tone and the attitude set.
Halo had a set attitude throughout Campaign and MP, this has changed significantly in the MP department thanks to a variety of things but weapon skins is one of them. It just makes the game feel less serious. Also you know this is a forum right? Anyone can complain about anything and trust me I have complained about other things.

> Halo had a set attitude throughout Campaign and MP, this has changed significantly in the MP department thanks to a variety of things but weapon skins is one of them. It just makes the game feel less serious. Also you know this is a forum right? Anyone can complain about anything and trust me I have complained about other things.
Im asking that we complain about stuff that matters not useless gobshite that we will seemingly repeat until the heat death of the universe. I know how a forum works but maybe mindless complaining about the same topic gets old for people who have had the conversation 500 billion times?
We get it: Number company bad, bungo good.
Its hard to take this seriously as a legitimate concern when compared to aspects that will actually matter such as gameplay, performance, story… visual design is important yes but we have discussed the importance at enough length for the past 9 years that perhaps we could talk about Literally anything else for once.
Cant repeat “its a forum site” for 9 years and expect it to keep sticking, g’day.
