To start: Th****e argument that a delay would “kill the hype” is simply not based in objectivity. Period. There are no facts that you can base this on for any delayed release for any game since I’ve been able to buy games.
Objectively, delays have never been the reason for the reception of a game being taken well or not. Period, again. When the content is good consumers do not mind how long it took to make as long as when it gets into their hands it has been perfected.
A few things I want to point out, personally, before I continue:
-
I’ve pre-ordered every Halo, other than Halo: CE. - __I’ve waited in line for every Halo, until Halo 5__I’ve been a Halo (Bungie) fanboy since I was 11-12, (I was even a Bungieboy since I was 7/8, and had played Myth and others tirelessly on my uncle’s computer when I was young.) In regards to Halo, hell, I was a major book-lore nerd & all.
I’ve been generally hyped & actually very positive regarding mostly everything Halo Infinite, so far. Hell, I even liked it when it had the less-than-desirable graphics when everybody was complaining after the initial E3 demo.
But, no co-op on launch? Well, -Yoink- you too I’m not buying.
-
Halo is many things to many people, but to everyone it’s always been Guns, Grenades, Melees, and multiplayer & co-op with your friends. - This year would be the first year that I would be able to finally play a Halo with a significant other for the first time, ever… Personally, it’s the first Halo I’ve looked forward to in years… And yet, this year will be another Halo launch in which there is major disappointment again. - _I don’t want to play the single player in front of my wife, while she jealously wishes she could play, too. We’ll take turns, I made it through elementary school so I know how to share. BUT– Guys, I married a beautiful gamer woman who LOVES Halo, so this co-op issue really hits home for us. This feels like the rug was pulled out… And yet as a long time Halo fan you think I’d be use to it?_I’m not going to make some immature, baseless claim stating 343 must not really care about Halo. I’m 30 now, and at this point it’s evident, as a working professional myself, they must put passion & purpose into their craft as it’s what each team member uses to fund their entire livelihoods & feed their families with.
But irregardless, it is always evident the modern gaming industry as a whole is an evacuous dystopia, working harder with more effort than ever to churn out items that don’t leave the same impression, don’t carry the same meaning, and don’t produce the same kind of love and finesse that developers did 20-30 years ago.
Delay, and add co-op. That’s my stance. “Patience is a virtue, waiting can’t hurt you.” Either way, I’m delaying my purchase, and waiting until the all-good-greenlight, indefinitely~
→ Thoughts?
I think they should delay, but can’t see that happening because it’s Halo’s 20 yr anniversary so there probably being pressured from higher to release it.

If 343i doesn’t delay this game, they are ignorant as hell. I’m sick of 343i releasing Halo games completely unfinished and/or lacking its at launch content. We are on the same page on all of this stuff. After this news, $60 just for a single player campaign is blasphemy.
Im not a believer on the objectivity argument you have, in some cases to much time HAS meant some games never ever launch and others get built from scratch various times and that just makes a bad game, it’s more on how the time is used more than anything.
that said in this case, 343 needs a good first impression, they promised to bring co-op back and the forge community is huge in the custom games department and all that, that’s a lot of potential to lose here not having that day one and that’s just a bad look on the game before it’s even out🤷♀️ It’s 343 though so I’m not surprised, I was skeptical on this already because they did the same with halo 5, I just wish they’d learn. Hopefully they hear all this feedback and take more time to launch with all its features day one.that first impression will matter for if a lot of people even bother with this game.

I agree. What would hurt the hype is releasing an unfinished game. People have had enough of that. They need more time and deserve more time with everything that’s gone on. Delay until Spring
Delay the game, why? Both ways you have to wait 3 months. You’re not getting what you want so you want nobody to have it too.
if your first time through is planned to be co-op, then just play multiplayer for 3 months until it’s out.
“But the game will be spoiled for me, it’s inevitable!”
SELF CONTROL. Seriously, it’s not hard to not read an article or to not click on a thumbnail. If you see something about Halo Infinite, scroll passed it!
Seriously, everyone wanting the game to be delayed is being selfish.
Also, adding that you’ve been a “fan” since Halo CE means NOTHING to support your argument. It does not make you automatically more qualified on an opinion.
I’ve been a fan for just as long for the Halo series, and my opinion is against yours, just to further my point.
Christmas is the biggest time of year for sales. Xbox games pass has had zero new games this year, that is new and fresh, delaying this campaign another 3 months, will hurt game pass subscribers and unlimited subscribers. I have also played Halo, solo every time and then gone onto co-op and that is the same for 90% of gamers, who have played halo past 20 years. The statistics do not lie. You cannot cater to everyone’s needs and be a successful company and business. Delay the campaign, for the minority and your PR, marketing and reputation is shot dead. And two years in a row, there will be no saving face.You either angry 90% of gamers or the minority 10% who will end up playing solo anyway.
I’m divided. I feel the OP’s pain. I play campaign co-op with my kids. And I was disappointed when Halo 5 had no split screen, but xCloud has helped address that somewhat. But launching without ANY co-op at all?
It’s beyond disappointing.
That said, do I think they should delay the entire game? Probably not, considering they are committing to adding co-op later. Still, it definitely takes away from my excitement. I don’t feel like we will “really” have the release of Infinite until co-op is there.

Another thing, let’s just say they do delay Infinite, then they would probably add Forge in as well, making us have to wait 3 more months to play co-op campaign then if it were to release their holiday.
here’s the thing if you do delay you still wait 3 months if its realized its still 3 months so what’s the difference besides I dont think 343 is gonna do it their locked in for a 2021 release so a delay might not happen
plus lets take a look at what inifinte’s campaign is going to be open world now granted ODST did that but it wasn’t true as it had loading zones form each section to section here for infinite its open as can be meaning classic coop of the past might not work for infinite so the new coop has to be made around how infinite’s campaign is open world with no loading zones
@SII SPARTAN XXX:
>20 year anniversary pressure
Good point. I actually didn’t even think about that. Then again, they wanted to release last year but they gave the chance for pushback on the date to get the graphics more in line with others demands
@creepy clown 75
>1) congrats, 2) solid point, 3) amazing xCloud suggestion
Wait! I never even thought about that option, before. The xCloud Direct streaming is definitely something that might make more accessibility, but I’d be lying if I said it put my feelings at ease. Thank you so much for the post, though. I wouldn’t have thought of that
@BullElkBucky
>agreed on delaying because 343 might be out of touch
I’m glad they you’re on the same page with delaying. I think they would be out of touch to delay last year on polish, but then not to delay on missing features. That seems backwards.
@ShadowAngel9228
>not feeling the objectivity about delays, but totally agrees regarding co-op but DEFINITELY not happy about the lack of forge
I’m just happy we’re on the same page about three missing features. I will say that there are some game delays that have definitely made it bad for the game. This is a very different version of a delay but games like “Too Human” that were delayed over 10 years and then released to bad reception when ultimately it wasn’t that all awful of a game.
@CHADS MAG
>agrees on all points and thinks they should delay too
We’re definitely in the same boat, here. It just doesn’t make sense to not delay even for 3 months which isn’t that long of a time to just add something in and then to put extra crunch work into make sure that they get forge in as well during the same time as they think I’ve heard from others that they’ve stated it would be in 6 months later, which is bananas.

One way hurts the games reviews and first day impressions, the other doesn’t. There in lies the difference between just delaying the game entirely or launching it with missing features that previous games had (besides halo 5 anyways since it too launched with missing features).
it’s not quite so selfish to want an actual finished product that helps your own impression of the game as well as others that will help draw in more players. If you don’t think no split screen won’t or forge day one will lose people I’d think again on that,

The game will never be finished until the end of 10 years. Are you a shareholder? Probably not. Are you going to play the game regardless of when it launches, delayed or not? Probably so. Let the people making the money worry about first impressions.

Couldn’t agree with you more, **@ShadowAngel9228.****I personally don’t understand how someone solely interpret it as selfish vs. wanting a fully fledged-out, and finished product.**Agreeing with you but moving off the idea of Halo: We consumers in the gaming industry are the only consumers that put up with being given half finished faulty products and then we are specifically blamed by the developers of these products and we’re not happy. In the last 5 to 10 years it’s become common to release games without full features…
To everyone who might not understand or agree here’s my example: You wouldn’t buy your birthday cake, and only part half your birthday cake would you bought with the promise the baker will deliver you the other half half a year from now. It might be a good cake then, too, but that doesn’t do much for your birthday, does it?

Listen, I agree to disagree politely. My stance I would try to give to your is: You wouldn’t buy your birthday cake, and only part half your birthday cake would you bought with the promise the baker will deliver you the other half half a year from now. It might be a good cake then, too, but that doesn’t do much for your birthday, does it?
