Co-Op is simply too important to leave out

Co-Op is where we, as a community, must draw the line for 343 on what’s acceptable to leave out at launch.

I’d wager a very sizeable amount of the Halo community, and their friends have already been making plans to make their first, blind run of Halo Infinite a co-op experience. Heck I’d even wager there are players out there who would call it their tradition, teams of friends and family who have been doing the co-op first playthrough since the beginning of the franchise, or at least their introduction to it.

If co-op is impossible to implement before launch, I think the best course of action would be to launch Multiplayer first, and then launch Campaign 3 months later alongside co-op. It is too long to wait for anyone hoping to enjoy a fresh, new, unspoiled, blind experience with their friends. There will be thumbnails, Facebook posts, tweets, video titles everywhere, all over the internet spoiling this game for those players, whether they wait the full 3 months or not, the experience of their coop run WILL be less exciting.

If 343 doesn’t relent on this, it will be the most negative-contributing factor in the world’s first impression of Halo Infinite. And could permanently damage the game’s success.

Campaign is simply NOT ready to launch of coop isn’t ready yet. And as a warning, as someone who really wants to see this game succeed. You must NOT launch campaign before it is ready.

It’s sad for those that want to co-op the game first having to wait, but everyone else shouldn’t be punished for that. The game is ready to ship for single player so let the people play.

It’s not just having to wait. It’s the fact that the entire campaign will be spoiled for them. It will be unavoidable, their YouTube, Facebook, twitter, and all kinds of other pages are going to fill up with links and articles and pictures spoiling everything.

It’s either play it day one, and be robbed of that first blind coop run entirely. Or don’t, and get spoiled for the story, losing your ability to experience it first hand first.

If they just launch multiplayer first, and wait until coop is ready to launch campaign. That’s the most fair middle ground for everyone. Everyone gets to play the game’s multiplayer for 3 months, and then campaign releases for everyone at the same time.

It’s coming out 3 months later anyways. It sucks, but it isn’t that big of a deal for that time period.

We must also draw a line under People acting idiotic. They have been completely transparent with us explaining the reasons why and when we will see it which is 6 months away from release which is nothing.

It took me over 12 months to finish Halo 5 campaign and I didn’t have it spoiled. It also took me over 12 months to finish Gears 5 campaign because I waited to play it co-op and we took forever to align our schedules. Also did not have that spoiled. I’ve had two games I was very excited for spoiled for me, and both were before the games even released. Usually it’s a good idea to go into blackout mode long before the game. I remember AMC posted a walking dead spoiler on their official page before it aired most places in the world and 50 Cent did for his show Power too. Media blackouts should be starting now if you really want the chance to be 0%.

People who are that keen to truly experience it fresh in co-op spoiler free can surely just wait 3 months and at the very worst do a media blackout. Unfollow any Halo content creators they do until after 3 months. I promise you, there’s an extremely small chance you get spoiled unless you go looking for stuff or are on a forum at the wrong time.

Or… play the game solo first and when co-op is ready to go you play it with friends and run through the campaign again. Its literally not that big of a deal and is not a game breaker for majority of people. The same with Forge, yes, just like everyone here it is a tad upsetting but definitely not worth delaying the game up to 6 more months. The game is ready, launch it and play it.

And I do hope everyone reading this understands. They won’t delay the game again over this minor issue. Joseph Staten already said the studio is entering shutdown phase which is the final stretch before the game goes gold.
