i have a good gaming buddy who lives in south africa and unfortunatly every time we try to play campaign or spartan ops it lags me like crazy
playing in war games is fine (maybe it lags the enemy giving us an advantage XD) and i see no lag at all but we really want to do campaign and we do enjoy spartan ops
Matchmaking is programmed differently than Campaign is. Every Halo game, and most other Campaign co-op games, have been like and are like this. Forcing a game with a large geographical distance between players will cause latency delays and therefore lag.
Basically, the further the distance apart, the more likely there is to be significant lag.
why give campaign and spartan ops online possibilities yet just screw everyone over with lag? why can’t they just do the same thing they did with war games with co-op?
I don’t pretend to know all of the technical details, but I do believe I read before when Bungie explained it that its due to resources. They have equipment and whatnot in place to support the millions of War Games matchmaking games, but doing it for every single campaign coop session just isn’t feasible.
I apologize for not knowing all of the details, but it was something along those lines (vaguely, lol).
there’s a large group of people who don’t play war games but still do stuff with friends online, they are not in war games so they don’t get support? what if they were in war games? wouldn’t they then have to accommodate for a larger amount of players playing online?

No it’s so all the stuff happening in the match happens at the same time on the screen for all players, player 1 jumps, shoots etc sends/uploads that data info to host and host sends that data to the other players. So if the players have bad upload or live far away the game will lag like crazy. While in regular mp its all about the connection from the host compared to campaign/spartan ops where all players affect the connection quality even if there is a host.
