Co-op Input Lag MUST be next priority

Its good to hear that 343 is closing in on the issue for matchmaking, and they will have the playlists up and running soon. and its also good to see that there are a handful of fixes coming in an update tomorrow for campaign related stuff. But i think the next priority should be getting the input lag issue when playing the games in co-op resolved. This issue was ignored in halo CEA 360, and should NOT go ignored here, especially since it affects all 4 games, they are unplayable with input lag.

This is the same thing that plagued Halo 3 and Reach when it was released. It seems to only affect the guests, and not the host.

Yes, this. The sheer lack of playability–especially with Legendary difficulty–in co-op is a huge buzzkill. My friends and I were looking forward to playing through all four titles on Legendary, and it just isn’t performing at all. Switching to pre-anniversary graphics helps some, but not nearly enough.

Bump. This needs to be addressed.

They aren’t closing in on the MM, they are at least a week away at putting a fix that may fix some of the issues. This won’t be addressed for weeks.

I absolutely agree as campaign is NOT PLAYABLE with input lag… How can they possibly think that this is not a huge priority? Why have the option to play co-op if it doesn’t work

I to had high hopes of halo 2 HD legendary coop with friends but alas, only the host can kill enemies and activate buttons. Effectively rendering coop null and void. While the campaign won’t even save checkpoints on legendary and matchmaking on the fritz. 343 shipped us a broken game and used false advertising to sell it.

Couldn’t agree more. My friends and I gave up trying to co-op campaign cause its just incredibly frustrating.

Halo 1, 2 and 4 have been fine for me in co-op online, but Halo 3 literally plays in slow motion when I’m in co-op. It’s not lag, it’s not a framerate issue, the game actually slows down.

I can play solo with no problem. My American friends can play together with no problem, but my UK friends all have this issue in Halo 3, even if we’re playing only with people in the UK.

100% agree, OP!

My friend and I bought MCC primarily to play the game on online co-op on legendary, and it’s extremely frustrating because of the lag. All four games are literally unplayable right now.

343i should at least acknowledge the issue and let us know that they’ll be fixing it. So far all I’ve heard from them is about the MM issues, nothing about the online co-op issues.

No

The main reason for my purchase was co-op, need assurance that this will not be ignored like Halo Anniversary on 360.

I agree. ONE of the maIn selling points of this collection for me was the COOP on legendary with frIends online. And the Input lag makes it unplayable and me unhappy

I can’t save games while playing in co-op. My friend didn’t mention any input lag though. Doesn’t really matter, there is a pretty big list of issues with this package. I think it’s just about time I put it down and forgot about it for a while. Maybe it will be ok by the time the Christmas break comes along.

Maybe they can’t fix it? I don’t know what’s causing the problem or how it all works, but perhaps thats why they haven’t said a word about it. I’d like to hear someone who know’s how it all works explain it.

I was wondering the same thing. Not a developer myself, so I have no clue, but this seems like something that should’ve worked on day one. I suspect it’ll never get the attention that we’d all like it to–which is kind of tragic, because Halo cooperative play is one of the highlights of the franchise.

I wouldn’t entirely assume that it would never be fixed, More likely than not, they’re aware of it, but they’re probably focused on Matchmaking for the first part.

The 11/20 update was a fairly big step. And it has actually fixed quite a bit of the problems I was facing, as well as others. That does not mean that the fix is universal, however. As is demonstrated by the reports that people are still having problems.

I completely agree. This is the third time I’ve gotten a group together to get the annual achievement, but the game is just outright unplayable with this lag.
I personally bought this game for the campaign modes. I don’t really care about the multiplayer, though I understand others do and they have to repair that. HOWEVER, the NEXT thing they do has to be to fix the game-breaking lag. It cannot possibly be our actual connection, because some of these people I’ve played with in 20+ games NO PROBLEM. Including the competitive multiplayer in Halo. It is just the campaign, for some reason. This applies to ALL 4 games, from my experience.

I bought this collection solely for the campaign and coop. I really hope it gets fixed.

When I was playing Halo 2 Anniversary the connection was perfectly fine for my friend and I for the entire campaign.

Then recently another friend and I tried Halo 3, and the campaign was playing in slow motion pretty much. We ran slowly, jumped slowly, our buttons were delayed. We tried switching hosts and the same thing happened. 100% unplayable like that.
