Co-Op Input Lag May Return

It’s been game breaking in every halo game since Halo 3, and so far 343 has failed to mention any planned fixes for the gamebreaking processing lag that occurs on any online part of any halo game with AI.

Therefore, you should all expect this effect to recur in the release of Halo 4 next month. I strongly encourage you all to either solo or stay away from Spartan Ops.

Remember, if a developer remains quiet about an issue, it’s not getting fixed. I hope some of you prove me wrong by providing actual evidence rather than speculation.

As long as the game runs on peer to peer, we know it is going to have the issue.

I thought people already knew this?

Yeeeeah… I think I’ll still be playing coop Spartan Ops.

God I hope not, ODST lag was HORRIBLE!!!

> God I hope not, ODST lag was HORRIBLE!!!

Face it, it’s coming back. Despite the fact that countless franchises such as CoD, Gears, and EVERY Rockstar game have avoided this issue, it’s returning in Halo 4.

Each epic hero must have a fatal flaw.

:frowning: oh well I am doing solo normal and then legendary, and spartan ops with friends unless you can search for games of spartan ops

Even if you were to play Spartan ops with your next door neighbor while he’s hosting, there would still be the notorious lag. Hate to say it, but somebody has to point this out.

You clearly don’t understand how the engines works to render AI enemies.

> It’s input lag that stems from using a synchronous netcode, which is necessary for Halo to process AI properly.

> That sort of correction isn’t possible in Campaign or Firefight due to the larger amount of information that has to synchronize perfectly. As a result, your console has to send a button press to the host, and wait for the host to verify that it received the button press. As a result, there is a slight delay before your button presses take effect.

Point facot: Gears of Wars campaign does experience input lag. Games like Guitar Hero and Rockband can avoid it easier because they don’t have to worry about rendering AI. COD doesn’t feature Co-Op, so it doesn’t have this proplem either.

Spec ops is Coop though?

UMMM spec ops (MW2, MW3), zombies(WaW, BO, BO2), co-op campaign (WaW), and Combat Training (BO and BO2).

But you’re right on one part. CoD doesn’t have this problem. Halo does.

I never played Spec Ops, Zombies, and I was unaware of the Co-Op features in WaW and BO(2), so I appologize. Nonetheless, if these use the same input system as Halo’s Co-Op, I find it hard to believe they don’t experience lag.

I’ve never had lag with my IRL friends even though they live in different towns.

The only times I got firefight/campaign lag was if i was matched with UK peeps or someone of equivalent super distance

No matter which of my friends I played with, they never got the input delay, but mine was horrendous; Almost a full second. Then they’d get upset when I didn’t want to play Firefight. It made me physically ill to play like that.

Needless to say I’ll be playing Spec Ops solo.

343 stated that they did improve the multiplayer coding. So while we will still get the black screen it will be much less often. As for campaign/spartan ops, I highly doubt 343 would advertise a massive co-op series with many AI to fight only to have it lag.

Halo: Anniversary’s co-op wants a word with you.
