Close quarter combat?

Remember Romeo from ODST offering Dutch a shotgun for “close quarter combat” but Dutch refused and he showed him an SMG?

Who had the right idea for close quarter combat and why?

I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking here, could you be more specific or elaborate?

I think what might help is remembering that the mission the ODSTs thought they were doing was infiltrating a Covenant ship. So Romeo was expecting relatively close quarters on the inside of a ship, I would imagine sort of like the Keyes mission in HCE. Hope I helped!

smg was better in game sense, it can be utilised at further ranges and inside a ship can be used to silently take out enemies. A shotgun would be good but the thing is the noise, its great, until you get into the hanger or an open room. Realisticly of you put a choke on the shotgun you can be accurate for quite a long range, but in terms of halo, the smg is more effective.

Yup, SMG is more versatile, more reliable. I’ve always hated the shotgun because it never behaves the same way twice, like most one-shot/one-kill weapons. And it’s inconsistency is inconsistent from game to game. CE shotgun is not the same as H2, H3, H4, etc. They’re all just different enough that if I try to use it and forget which game I’m in then I just end up dead. Junk gun.

I guess it’s not just the ODST SMG in general but pretty much any assault rifle in the Halo series. Would rifles, like the SMG and Assault Rifle be a better weapon to use for close quarters or would the shotgun be a better choice? I guess there’s people that only use BRs or DMRs/ mid/long-range weapons for pretty much any fight and probably fail to see the relevance of this post -.-

I haven’t noticed a difference with the shotgun in each Halo. I pretty much just use a shotty at very close range, like in close to your face that you can kiss me type range, other than that, it is junk!

I guess SMG

Well, Texas uses SMGS…but York uses a shotgun… so I’m kinda torn on this one…

I had a Shotgun and M4 Carbine in Iraq, those were pretty good when I was kicking in doors. Flashbangs are also very helpful

Pro advice right there.

What do you think about your time in Iraq, seeing as in hindsight it was practically pointless to be there?

It’s Halo, buddy. Please leave your politics at the door.
