I always went with the Drop Force, but now I’m tempted to try close air support…
Drop Force is good because if you draw enemy units out to face your forces, you can then drop a sizeable force behind them, ensuring their annihilation- and also gives you a lasting presence on the map, whereas close air support gives you more damage in the short term but no physical presence on the map.

Good point. I think tactically the drop force may be better in some situations for the reasons you chose but if the enemy unlock their base and release a ton of troops a well timed air support can annihilate them and continue to pound the base (it seems to go on for quite a while).
It also feels very satisfying to use
