Look I am sure he is a great guy, and talented. But it is so insane how bad he is at writing Halo. Spartan ops wasnt very good, the comics were not either. And then we have Halo 5, a monument to all of his sins. He doesn’t respect the lore and what has happned in Halo in the past 14 years. They NEED to replace him with someone who has either been with the franchise before or someone who respects it. Halo 5s campaign was more disappointing then Destiny, and that is saying something. The story had NOTHING to do with Hunt the Truth. The cool ideas they had for the ad campaign were not used and the key characters they brought back like Blue team, Buck and Arby MIGHT AS WELL NOT HAVE BEEN THERE AT ALL. Not to mention the word Traitor wasn’t used once the entire game. And the way he reacted when he found out its you know who being the bad guy was BS!!! Get the people who did hunt the truth series to write Halo 6 at least. Please 343 I can forgive the lack of content and microtranactions but DO NOT LET [CLASSIFIED] WORK ON HALO ANYMORE HE IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE HALO UNIVERSE
You do realise Reed works with the various creative and franchise directors and producers as well as the entire narrative design team? And that’s before you think about how resources can affect tgr story being told
Its not like he decided everything and wrote and built the entire game himself.

I get that but as the lead writer it’s his responsibility.
Halo 5’s story wasn’t the best. It was good enough for me to get through it and say, “You know, that wasn’t real bad.” But I agree that they WAY over-hyped the Chief vs. Locke, only to have their first interaction fit the hype, and the second one did the complete opposite. I also didn’t like that -REDACTED- became the antagonist. Chief’s reaction to it was beyond lackluster. Based in his reaction to -REDACTED-, he should have been flipping the yoink out. As for the fact that it was worse that Destiny’s story, that isn’t true. Destiny’s story. Fight the Fallen, find Rasputin, go to the moon, stop the Hive, go to Venus, kill a Gate Lord, go to Mars, find the Black Garden, kill the Heart. Follow that up with a motivational speech from the Speaker and the Stranger giving you her (at the time) useless gun. With Halo, you have an unexpected enemy, at least some kind of nod to the hype, and an overall decent ending.
Would’ve been better if she actually DID take the Chief and Locke had to hunt her down to find him again.THAT would have been a good cliffhanger for Halo 6 in my opinion.
The story had good elements and I loved the ending but the overarching story was terrible, felt like nothing but filler and only 3 characters (John, Cortana, and the Warden) were fleshed out at all and out of those only The Warden felt like he was a well developed charachter within the game’s confines. Bring back the writer from Halo 4 please, for God’s sake.
A thread about this was made yesterday and aparantly 343 locked it according to the “Calling out” rule. May want to revise the OP to say “lead writer” instead of his actual name. But I do think 343 needs to revise that rule "Along with several others for the sake of alowing constructive feedback.
After all this particular writer has been met with his fair share of criticism for his work ever since Spartan Ops and If the community is consistantly disatisfied with the work of a particular staff member, I think its important for the staff to know, if only for that particular staff member to understand, and at the end of the day it is still the company’s call as to what happens.
You guys are so funny. Everyday there are threads where you try to point fingers at someone or something.
You’re all trying to relive some nostalgia past that never really happened in the first place.
The truth is, every single Halo game has be great in their own might. Every single one offers something different. Why would anyone buy it play the same exact thing every time?
Games need to keep changing and evolving it they die. The fact Halo keeps changing with every installment is a good thing.

The OP said that Halo 5’s story was worst than Destiny’s. That’s not true, because Destiny has almost no story at all.

Exept people have been opposed to this particular individual being the head writer even before the game was released.
This is the same head writer for Spartan Ops and it was almost universaly panned.
And your comment literaly has NO relevance whatsoever to the OP. People wanted the lead witer from Halo 4 (the main game) to do the story because he did a stellar job, it has nothing to do with nostalgia.

Not an excuse to keep giving us weak stories. There is a sugnifigant audience that buys the games for the stories and losing them is not what anyone wamts
Agreed. I like how many threads of this are popping up over the past few weeks. I hope they really look into bringing in someone that can write a good story… cough Joseph Staten cough

Agreed, I’m a story guy for Halo. While Halo 5 had a great stroy, it was poorly executed… just like the mp in my opinion. It plays nothing like Halo.

Only problem is that Halo is one of those game series that is known for it’s story and campaign. At this point we kind of expect a certain caliber of storytelling.
Yeah I agree, This games story sucked no scale to it at all. There isn’t enough Blue team either. I also feel we’ve already seen how the next game ends when the reddit user read that script so that kinda ruining the games for me. Hopefully they change it buuuuut I’m guessing they won’t 343 seems to love assassinating characters and games we love.
