Though some of the changes 343 are implementing are disappointing, and infuriating in the case of Elites being out of MP, they are not game-breaking. If 343 understands alot of the community will not want to commit to all of their changes for MP, and makes a Classic (CE/2/3) version of most playlists, then we have nothing to worry about. I would enjoy customizing a loadout in Halo, as long as I can revert back to classic gameplay with updated guns, maps and abilities at my pleasure.
Having “Classic” and “Progressive” (H4) modes of most playlists would be alot of playlists, but I believe that 343 should fewer playlists than in Reach, so replace some like Snipers and DLC playlists with Classic Slayer, Classic BTB, Classic FFA, Classic Objective, etc. Having the option to choose what starting weapon (within reason) in Halo would be cool, just not if that’s the only option. There are some playlists like Infection, Action Sack, and Grab Bag where you wouldn’t be able to decide your own weapon anyways but rather would choose loadouts given, so these would not need a Classic version. I don’t understand why 343 doesn’t spend time and elaborate on how Classic gametypes will work, to put fans at ease.
Campaign, on the other hand, looks amazing, with the graphics and soundtrack we’ve seen and heard so far. I have total confidence in 343 for that aspect, and if they deliver on Spartan Ops, Forge, Customs, and the sharing aspects, this game can still be amazing.
I hate this. Go play those games, don’t ask them to make a little haven specifically for you.

Classics deserve to have their spot in MM, sure, but like MLG classics never pull a large crowd, they can never compete with ordinary matchmaking, and hence it would be a waste of resources to have a multitude of almost dead classic playlists. Sure, a few 2-4 playlists, but that’s already stretching it.

That’s because whichever playlist says “team slayer” and is the first playlist you can click on is the playlist that gets played the most. MLG and arena were barried in a subsection / the bottom of the list. Your average casual will look at arena and go “why, i have team slayer right up there”. I’d bet my life saving that if the “classic” playlist were To be placed in the first position and called “team slayer” that it would have the highest population for the time that it remained there.
A Custom Games Browser would solve all of your silly little playlist problems.

DISLIKE
