MODERN: Sprint with no Thrusters. CLASSIC: No sprint with Thrusters. (No stabaliser, ground pound or spartan charge)
If you had the option to pick one of these which one would you prefer? Personally I would say Sprint with no Thrusters. Also I would love equipment to make a return like in Halo 3. Can’t remember the last time I seen a bubble shield lol, I miss them.
Honestly as much as I enjoyed how Halo 5 played - minus the Charge thing - I’d have to say “No Sprint, but keep Thrusters and Stabilizer”.
Playing 5’s “Mythic” playlist I have to say it actually feels real good not having Sprint but keeping Thrusters.
Just my two credits of course, but I’d like to see the Thrusters remain in some form or another.
Classic. If I wanted to play Titanfall, CoD, or Destiny I would go and buy those games. I was actually okay with H5 at launch, but after playing the MCC now I realize just how much better everything feels without these “additions”.

I’d rather them just remove sprint and have thrusters, hover when aiming mid air, and spartan charge and any new features they introduce.

If they don’t innovate with movement and whatnot why would people keep buying Halo games? They would just be buying another copy of the same stuff form before.

Innovation does not mean making your game feel like other games. It means keeping the same spirit and feel of the previous installments, while making the newest installment feel like its own game. Halo 1, 2, 3, Reach and 4 all feel like Halo, despite all the additions and changes that have been made. Halo 5 feels, and in many ways looks like Call of Duty (the first-person sprinting animations are lifted right from a Call of Duty game), not a Halo game.

For new content, story, and doing cool new things that were not possible with previous hardware? Real innovation.
We could have had Halo 5’s mechanics on the original Xbox if they so chose to, but they didn’t. Titanfall 2 released, why doesn’t every game just play like that now? In fact, why are there games releasing that don’t even have sprint, like Doom Eternal and Valorant? It’s because it isn’t necessary for every kind of game and you can have sequels without the main gimmick being “you can now move this way!” mechanics.

You can innovate movement in games without messing with base player traits like adding sprint. Sprint has made environmental movement options entirely nonexistant in Halo. There are no Arena maps in Halo 5 with vehicles, no teleporters, and few man cannons, of which are almost all just to get from the lowest level to the highest, as opposed to all of the lateral launcher from previous titles.
For example, I think the best way for 343 to incorporate something like thrusters into the gameplay would be to have a single use item like equipment that is a map pickup, kind of like the gravity lift in Halo 3.
Every single classic-gameplay Halo innovated without messing with movement because it is a core aspect of the Halo experience. Halo 2 innovated the weapon sandbox and maps, Halo 3 innovated the vehicle sandbox and added equipment. Even Halo 2 Anniversary innovated through environmental changes to maps such as the stalactites in Lockout, or the EMP in Coagulation.
I’ve wanted Infinite to be thrusters and no sprint since H5 came out pretty much and the mythic playlist just solidified that, I just really don’t want sprint lol

I’m fine with the innovation they have took. If they don’t do something new nothing will ever change in the series.
Both but niether?
I’ve slowly moved away from the “enhanced movement” camp, but not entirely. I’d like to see a more streamlined approach, with faster base movement speed, sprint on a recharge timer to keep gameplay more balanced, I love the ability to slide into cover, or around cover- many players try to keep thier crosshairs trained on headshots, so being able to slide out of thier point of aim can give you a slight edge, so I’d keep that.
However, in place of thrusters, a deft movement mechanic would be a welcome addition. Instead thrusting in any direction, a swift side-step would be a better choice and still keep with the lore of Halo, as spartans are capable of high levels of agility.
Complete removal of Spartan charge and ground pound would be welcome as well. As much as I loved feeling like Ironman, it does upset the balance of gameplay.
This can be explained in lore as well; because the GEN 2 armor uses some Forerunner systems to enhance the wearer’s abilities, these features had to be locked out to reduce the armor being disabled or detected by Created forces…or something like that. A quick “justification” for the change.
I think I would rather have thrusters with no sprint. Halo 4 was sprint with no thrusters (unless you had the ability but that wasn’t normal), and it was fun, but I find Halo 5 without sprinting and with thrusters in a playlist to be more fun. Either way, I’m still going to play it, but I’d rather have thrusters and no sprint. Sprint without thrusters won’t be the end of the world

Classic w/ Thrust
I want something similar to Halo 5’s Mythic Arena, and that means no clamber either.
Thrusters give players a mid-combat outplay option (on the ground and in the air). Though, I would like it to be more physics based, like a short-burst version of Halo Reach’s jetpack. This would mean extra speed for players already moving in the direction they thrust, and vice versa, increasing the dynamics to this ability.
Sprint gives players a minor out-of-combat option. Combined with slide and other mechanics, sprint gets more interesting, but only mildly (IMO).
Clamber, in my opinion, makes the game much more snappy (animations snapping the player to map geometry) which overrides the classic physics-based movement system. I prefer an emphasis on physics-based movement in my Halo games.
Sprint with no thrusters, but let us point our weapons while we sprint so it doesn’t stop the flow of combat. Also design the maps as if sprint didn’t exist. I would rather there be no sprint at all but this is my best case scenario becuase I know a lot of people want to get around the map faster. Getting rid of thrust is more important imo.
Judging by how John placed his assault rifle (he placed it vertically) on his back, chances are thrusters will have a role in gameplay since that started in Halo 5 to accomadate for thruster usage. I would like the thrusters to return in Infinite.
Classic: no sprint with thrusters
-Ideally, I would have no sprint and no thrusters. Stabilize is cool though. It should return, as I have hit some incredible snipes with the ability.
