Since you guys added A ton of classic weapons to Halo 5, is it possible to add the Halo 2 shotgun with the original 11 rounds? I feel like the community would like that, and it would add to the weapon variety
If they did it with updated graphics, maybe. I hate seeing the blocky, nasty looking CE pistol on maps that don’t look consistent with how it looks.
I still want to go back to the days where we had one shotgun, and not two with 5 variants in between.

I don’t see how adding a redundant weapon adds to weapon variety.

Extremely large magazine with less range than either the shotgun or scattershot.

But it’s just another shotgun. Halo 5 already has an incredibly bloated weapon sandbox because of the whole philosophy of each faction needing their own interpretation of a certain weapon archetype. It adds nothing new or interesting to the sandbox outside of “hey, here’s a close-quarters weapon that plays slightly different from the others”.

And I agree. The only reason I provided those reason was justification for the addition of more weapons.
Halo 3 had the perfect weapon sandbox, and Halo 4 ruined it by adding in Promethean weapons. There’s a reason why there’s only one shotgun in Halo games prior to that.
Halo 5 added fuel to the fire by just throwing more guns into the game. That works in Borderlands. It doesn’t work in Halo.
H2 boomstick ya mean?
I thought the H2 shotgun had 12 rounds…
As cool as it’d be to have the (implied) CE Shotgun in Halo 5, there are a few things that make it unfeasible at this point:
- It’ll destroy the balance in Halo 5’s Infection mode. With 12 rounds on tap, a player can save a round for each player and wreak havoc in the process. Last Man Standing would be a nightmare for the Infected. - It’s far too late to bring in new REQs now. In an August tweet, Grim effectively said that no more new REQs will be coming to Halo 5. Sorry bud. - The CE Shotgun will have a hard time going against Oathsworn and especially the Blaze of Glory in Warzone. We can hope for Halo 6 that it’ll return, but I wouldn’t hold your breath until then.
The blaze of glory is essentially the CE shotgun with kinetic bolts. In CE the shotgun was powerful. Aside from 5, it was easily the strongest iteration of the shotgun in the franchise for the campaign. Probably for multiplayer too.
Why don’t we add every weapon from every Halo game while we’re at it. I don’t think we need any more weapons.

better to have something and not need it, than to need something and not have it

Since we already have a Shotty- I’d prefer 343 to add other weapons- like the weapons that came out in Reach.

It did. Halo 3 was the first Halo to cut that in half.

Maybe it would seem like a good addition, but only to the noobs. 11 rounds is too much for a shotgun, and the range was insane for it in H2. Yeah, it might be fun, but at the cost of everyone else’s enjoyment of the game.

Amen.
I’m aware the H2 and H3 shotgun were the weakest incarnations, but was the H3 shotty even weaker than the H2 shotty?

We don’t need it though and never will.
