Classic Playlists wont fix ANYTHING!

If you haven’t already, please watch this video: Classic Playlists in Halo 5 Won't be Good! - YouTube It’s a nice, well put together video, and it deserves some attention.

I’ll chime in this thought once more:

Don’t let youtubers think for you. Controversy or bias brings in the dosh for 'em.

You shouldn’t let anyone think for you. You should take in many different opinions and views then decide for yourself where you stand on the issues. If you’re pro- or anti-classic playlists, watch the video and hear what he has to say. Then decide for yourself whether you agree or not and really think about why it is you believe the way you do.

If everyone actually did that instead of closing their ears and going “lalalalalalaICantHearYoulalalalalala” the entire community would be a much better place. Hell, the world would be a much better place.

As for a comment on the subject, I think it’s unreasonable to expect the classic playlists to play exactly like old games. How Halo 5 was built and tuned won’t allow for it. You also shouldn’t expect that it will save Halo 5 and make 343 make Halo 3 2. That said, you can certainly take Halo 5 and create a playlist that harkens back to the days of yore and feels more like your classic Halo. I don’t think 343’s requirements of H2 BR/CE Pistol starts will facilitate that, however.

Classic playlists will appease the fans like me who don’t like 343’s halo

Classic playlists , built to play on maps made for modern Halo mechanics would not play correctly. You would absolutely need to rebuild the maps around no sprint , no ground pound , no clamber , and increase base move speed to make strafing a viable option. This or port maps from Halo CE - 3 and port them 1:1 , or as close as the current engine can produce. Only then would a classic play list make the Classic players happy. They tried a classic playlist (no aas and equal starts , power weapons on map) in Reach and 4 with maps built around those games mechanics (Reach and 4) , and they were colossal failures.

Exactly.
Especially The Pit remake in 4.

It would also appeal to the people who want a change of pace in this iteration.

Yes, the classic playlists in Reach and Halo 4 failed. Unfortunately, a classic playlist being added to Halo 5 will fail as well. It will fail because, just like Reach and 4’s classic playlists, it’s being added too late in the game’s lifespan.

These playlists would have done much better if they were present when the games launched. By this point, the classic Halo fans have already been chased away from the game by having no playlists to enjoy. There are a small number of us willing to re-install the game and come back as long as a classic playlist is present. But I understand that we are the minority.

And believe me, nobody is more disappointed by this than me. I would love to be able to enjoy the newest Halo game. I would love it if a classic playlist were added. It is the only part of Halo 5 I would play.

Let’s talk about MCC for instance. People are still pitching a fit about it and how many bugs it has. Frankly it has worked perfectly for me for a while now. So it seems people just assume the worst instead of finding out for themselves. No classic playlists will not fix the game. in fact I think it will make it worse. If we lose people to yet another set of playlists we lose out on more people joining other games that the other groups enjoy. The people who have quit and don’t check the forums regularly won’t know there are classic playlists. So 343 just spent time, money and other resources for something, few people will actively enjoy. Just my thoughts

I’m glad MCC works perfectly for you. But it doesn’t for so many of us. I play it every week for custom games. We regularly have to deal with party instability, game crashes, players who can’t join, game chat randomly cutting out, etc.

And then there’s the missing features such as join-in-progress for customs, customizeable emblems to display during matches(so you can tell who is who), and game settings that simply don’t work(can’t play H2c zombies because there’s no team switching despite the setting existing in game options)

Not sure how it affects only certain people. Doesn’t make sense.

I agree with them. They’re not thinking for me.

I personally don’t think it would feel like Halo. In fact, I know it doesn’t. I’ve played on special game modes that make it as classic as possible. It just doesn’t feel right because of how the weapons were changed to accommodate sprint and map scaling.

Sorry if I implied other wise. I wasn’t trying to argue for putting a classic play list in 5. We are far beyond the point where that would have worked. I am hoping 343 pays as close attention to the forums as they say they do and am campaigning for options in future games.
Not holding my breath , but it doesn’t hurt to hold onto hope.
